The focus is on building confidence, communication, concentration and co-ordination skills via specially formulated games and exercises, funky dances and catchy songs to bring out a child’s potential whilst having great fun!

Each term there is a new theme and last term the 4-7 year olds were pirates and mermaids on the Haslewey Treasure Island and the 7-12 year olds enjoyed working on The Dream – a modern adaption of Shakepeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream.

Every child is offered a free trial session and there is a special £30 discount if you book a block of 10 sessions – just quote SAML010616. For more information or to book a free trial, email [email protected] or call Sam Love on 0845 400 4000.

Belly Good Fun! Haslewey is launching an exotic Belly Dancing taster session - led by a professional instructor - on Thursday, 22nd September from 10am-12pm for just £5.00 per person, which includes use of a traditional coin belt!

Belly Dancing is a gentle, non-impact, weight bearing dance exercise, suitable for ALL ages and stages in life. As well as being a unique exercise that is beneficial to the spine, Belly Dancing also improves flexibility of the torso and strengthens the tummy muscles.

Dress code is baggy trousers or long skirts and you can go barefoot or wear soft, comfortable shoes. Book your place on this fun activity session pronto, as places are limited. Drop into Haslewey reception or call 01428 648716. Go on, have a belly laugh!

Singing For Fun! Freya Parles is the founder of Haslemere Community Choir who meet at Haslewey every Wednesday night from 7.45-9.15pm. Feted for their beautiful harmonies, HCC sing glorious music from around the world in three or four parts with no piano accompaniment. Because of the way the songs are taught – by ear, repeating a line at a time back to Freya, HCC don’t need music to read and everybody is welcome, whether they have confidence and experience or not.

Haslemere Community Choir is “pay as you go” at £5.00 a week, including tea and biscuits and the Choir will be learning lots of new songs and this term, will be getting ready for their Christmas performances at the Haslemere Christmas Market and for The National Trust at The Devil’s Punchbowl. If you would like to give HCC a try, email Freya on [email protected] or contact Haslewey directly.

Funtime With Mini Marvels! Mini Marvels is an inspirational Baby and Toddler Group that meets every Monday at Haslewey from 9.30–11.00am and runs all year round. Mini Marvels provides a wide range of gentle activities for Babies and Toddlers from creative play to singalongs, arts and crafts to interactive fun. There’s a special baby play area and healthy snacks are provided. Mini Marvels is just £3.00 per parent/carer and child and 50p for each additional child over six months old - it’s a great way to make new friends!

Fruity Fundraiser! The Strawberry Tea held on 13th July was a great success and the Wey Terrace and Café was full of local residents of all ages enjoying a delicious afternoon tea to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK. Among the locals who joined us for tea, cakes and games were residents from Chestnut View Care Home, Mayor Sahran Abeysundara, Emma Higginson from Yours Tastefully, who donated yummy cupcakes and Beverly Marden, from Cancer Research UK, who ran the tombola.

“Everyone in life is touched by cancer”, said Kerry Morren Jeffs, Haslewey Manager. “My mother lost her battle with breast cancer aged just 50, so therefore the success of this event is very close to my heart - a fun afternoon for good causes that will definitely be repeated in the future.”

Helping the Haslewey Team were local students doing work experience with Tesco, who once again supported this fabulous event by providing all the strawberries. Over £425 was raised on the day and, in addition, £544 was raised for Cancer Research from the sale of clothes from the collection bin – brilliant results all round!

Fun and Free Summer Activities! Thanks to the tireless Haslewey Fundraisers, we were able to offer a wide range of free events over the Summer for children of all ages. From Giant Track Scalextric to Pony Pals, Build a Buddy to Disco Skate, Teen Wellbeing Workshops to Craft Clubs – there really was something for everyone!

A Raucous Race Night!Haslewey is holding a fun filled Horse Race Night on Saturday 24th September from 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 per person and includes a delicious hot snack made by The Natural Cook Company and you are welcome to bring your own bottle of choice – no corkage charged! All monies raised will go towards funding future Community events at Haslewey.

There are seven races altogether and you can place your bets at the Tote. Upon each race you have six participants and you bet on the person “winding in”! The “horse” is attached to string and at the other end of the track, the “jockey” has to bring in the horse as quickly as they can by winding the string round a stick – hilarious! Cowboy or Cowgirl fancy dress is optional!

The paddock opens at 7.30pm and the first race is scheduled for 8.00pm and you can name your own horse (or more than one horse!) if you wish for just £5.00 per horse.

Book your tickets at reception or call 01428 648716.
