It was Sunday morning. Ben and John were playing badminton.
Suddenly, Ben hit the shuttlecock too hard and the shuttlecock
fell into the bush. They ran to the other side of the bush to look for
the shuttlecock. They searched the area thoroughly but found
nothing.
‘Woof! Woof!’ A dog’s barking drew their attention. They looked
up and saw a spotted medium-sized dog. It sat on the lawn
that they played on just now. There was a shuttlecock at its feet.
‘Oh! You stole my shuttlecock!’ Ben shouted. John said, ‘No!
Look at the dog. It looks so obedient. It is a smart and tame dog.
I don’t think it stole our shuttlecock. It just helped.’
John went up to the dog. He patted the dog on its head and
said, ‘Good boy, thank you.’ The dog stood up and wagged its tail
excitedly. ‘Where does it come from? Does it belong to anybody?’
asked Ben.
‘Can you see its collar? It must have a master. Maybe its
master is looking for it nearby. Let’s bring it to its master.’ John said.
‘Good boy, follow us!’ Ben shouted to the dog but the dog
ran away quickly and disappeared in seconds. Ben was so
disappointed. John comforted him, ‘A good dog leads its master.
It never gets lost. Don’t worry.’
Ben and John are good friends. They always play in the park together. Last Sunday, they were in the park again. Read the story and choose the best answers for Questions 1-5.
