the way of the Lord, make raight Hispaths. (Saint Luke, )

We mu op apologising if ourCatholic Faith offends others. When de-mons possessing hapless men recognisedChri during His mini ry, our Lord didnot apologise to them. He drove themout! We hold true to our Faith, becausethe world itself recognises it to be divine. Our Lord Jesus Chri Himself revealedit unto us and unto the fathers of our fore-fathers. With patience and in silence, wemu keep the re of the Faith burning. We mu letthat be known to all, to thefour corners of the worldeven at theco of our deare friends and family. Allthat we need is Chri !

ey claim we should judge not; yes,tis true. Judge not, that you may not be judged, for with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with whatmeasure you mete, it shall be measured toyou again. (Saint Matthew, ) Butour Lord Himself showed us how we areto judge. He taught us how to di inguishthe right from the wrong. He urged us onpain of damnation to discriminate be-tween what is according to His teaching

and what is oppugnant to it. We receivedfrom Him the solemn admonition tobeware of false prophets, who come to[us] in the clothing of sheep, but inwardlythey are ravening wolves for by theirfruits [we] shall know them. (Saint Mat-thew, )

Our duty to keep or break our silencein the face of a false faith never re s onwhether we do what is good and cause

But when She eaks to defend Her-self, or when Her children eak on Herbehalfbehold!the world She contin-ues to guide unto holiness, and its pursuitthereof, shuns Her ever more and cha is-es Her children for propagating intoler-ance. A world that fools itself that secularprogress can be achieved by e ousing aform of tolerance that implicitly excludesthe Catholic Church is a confused andmisguided world. We submit: there is averitable limit to tolerance, andthattoler-ance can only be pra iced in certaintimes. Let us ask ourselves, however: intimes when the Faith is attacked underthe pressure of heathens and heretics, willwe suffer the Church to perish?

We are called to be always resilient, but never forever silent. Witnessing insilence is indeed exemplary. Silence is aronger witness than words. Notwith-anding the conne ivity which our ageaffordsa conne ivity that bridges virtu-al di ance at the expense of a ual com-municationwherein words reach far-ther de inations fa er than a ions.

When we defend and profess ourFaith with meekness and deference, the

world calls us self-righteous. When we dothe same as harshly and uncouthly as theyaccused us, the world passes the samesentence. Worldly people refuse to behumoured with turning the other cheekor an eye for an eye. Do they desire usthen to cease proclaiming Chri ? eworld takes every inch of care not to con-vince us otherwise. We Catholics are inno position to cease being that voice ofone crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye

have become a race plagued with inherited catara and otitis media. HolyMother Church receives unju criticism from within and without, andmany of us sit around pretending these calumnies do not harm Her.

    * * *Have you noticed? Our tablemanners have become a littlesloppy. Holy Mother Church gave us two prayers: one to askGod to bless the food that weare about to eat (Bnedic, quasu-mus); another to thank God for the food aeating (Grtias gimus). Nowadays, either wonly say the r , or simply mumble somethlike the second before the meal. Isnt it time to recover the dignity of the meal?

therefore, is also not of this woands not to seek after the praisesworld, not to mole Herself into ing records and e ablishing the wlarge heaven-knows-what. [Excbut the Church sets the andardhigh above the clouds that nobo

out-achieved Her.] No, these arramblings of incoherent se s. e mof the real Church of Chri is the the Blood of Chri and of the mwho died for the True Faith, suffered not to walk the path of thamid the praise of the worldly.

Death failed to mute us beforecould shut us up now? Bid us nsilent, e ecially when our enemiecute our brethren in Iraq, Syria, aya! Bid us not to be silent, e ecialthe world exalts false prophets wthored the greate cata rophes ofage! Bid us not to be silent, ewhen demoniacs rally behind a peace that shuns the Faith. Ask ube silent in order to promote peapeople who wish to cover and sFaith like a lamp concealed undour beds! [We] say to you, thatshall hold their peace, the ones out. (Saint Luke, )

We profess our Faith. e Lcommanded us: Preach the win ant in season, out of season: rentreat, rebuke in all patiencdo rine, ( Timothy, ) because yare not of the world, but I haveyou out of the world, therefore thhateth you. (Saint John, ) Concerning those who choose not to m

their burning lamps, unequal Chri ian duty to ca light upon aworld to discover its manifold faland to guide lo souls to Truth athe True Church, our Lord warnethat is not with me, is again me;that gathereth not with me, seth. (Saint Luke, )

Let us, therefore, prudently sour tongues with the wisdom of th

no harm in the eyes of the world. Truthis never subje ive. e truth of the Cath-olic Faith is absolute. Chri founded aChurch, one composed of saints and sin-ners. He built it upon the Rock (PetrosinGreek,Keppain Aramaic), who is Saint

Peter the Apo le. e unfathomablebeauty of the Church, incomprehensibleto the world, becomes even more pro-nounced when She rises in triumph andglory from the depths of Her own perse-cution, from without, and not surprising-ly even from within. Should we be silentthen even if a se is indeed false, ju be-cause by their appearance they do what isgood and cause no harm?

Judge not, we agree, for in so doing,we might pass judgment where we haveno competence. Finding ourselves guiltyof the same failures in the pa , we mightdescend into hypocrisy if we forge ahead judging in order to condemn. We mu judge, thus, when our Chri ian duty be-hoves us to separate the bad works fromthe good. And this duty urges us to re-buke the bad, and cultivate the good.

Everyone should, at lea , be happyto agree with that. But we mu also becareful not to judge a se good on therength of the good works they di lay.Not all good exhibitions amount to goodworks if underneath a darker cause lurks.Perhaps, to bully. Perhaps, to snob. Notall good appearances are, in truth, intrinsi-cally good. at is the truth we profess.

e business of name-calling derivesits greate prot from those people whohad consecrated themselves to vilifying

Holy Mother Church. Extreme, extrem-i s, fundamentals, fundamentali s, inse-cure, haters, abusers, we heard them all. Alot of us know it already, so we only waitfor the day when every self-re e ingthesaurus in the world would rankCatho-licamong the synonyms ofterrori .

Now, I saynew crea-tionbecause the old creation was de royed by sin and death onaccount of the disobedience of our r parents. Saint Paul said:By the disobedience of one man, sin entered into the world, and, together with sin, entered death. [] What was supposed to bean imperishable creation was de royed by the envy of the devil. But, behold, I make all things new, says the Lord. He, who isabout to create a new heaven and a new earth, created this won-derful child, like a new garden which the serpent was not allowedto enter. Truly a better paradise than the r is given us at thishour. Eden, fear no more that man will endeavour to enter thee;thy Cherubim may leave the gates and return to heaven. Whatare thy beautiful fruits to us, since we cannot touch these with-out dying? Death is now for those who will not eat of the fruit sosoon to appear amid the owers of the virgin earth to which ourGod has led us.
