Data AnalysisData Analysis

April 101 569 149 1397

May 112 594 223 1598

Average 101.3 567.3 165.3 1430.3

From the above graph it can be observed that DEPS in HYDN has grown by each month. Still it has been found decrease in DEPS as compare to April but overly it is increasing. There seems to be a control over the issue of Pilferage and extra but there is a huge rise in short. We have to focus in controlling those shorts which is very essential. Overally short has been calculated to be found as growth of 74.82% from last March month.

Findings & RecommendationsFindings & Recommendations

• Most of the damages occur due to improper packaging, absence of cushioning material, Improper sized of packages used.

• Lack of visibility of docket number on the GATI sticker is the major reason for Short that occurs in GDW. Recommendations include use of printed sticker.

• No marshaling area is also present which turns out to misplacement of dockets at the time of unloading of 3-4 trucks simultaneously.

• The most important point of concern is the automation in the warehouse. Automation needs to be improved as well as the present ones should be optimally utilized.

• In HYDN manpower of handlers is very short in this EDC. So pressure overwhelms their desire to earn more. Policies don‘t allow them to take care of goods that seriously.

• But moreover what matters is the chemistry between the handlers and the supervisor/associate they work with. A well behaved associate is liked by the handler and lets them work just fine.

• Supervisors are having Kainetophobia / Technophobia i.e. they fear changes and to some extend technologies too.

• Foot printing process is not done properly so that it is very difficult to know the status of delivery and cooling hour.

• Proper training to all level of employees to be given for smooth functioning.

My special suggestionsMy special suggestionsWhat I have observed in these days we have generally the DEPS problem in shortage and extra. While we are sending the dockets from here we should have a three step check out process.

Operational point of view :

•Three step check in process.•Use of RFID in HYDN.•There should be a provision of special hard bound plastic trunks.•The high value goods should be packed in front of a high resolution cc camera in both the ends.•The most important thing is to establish its own R&D centre.

From HR point of view:

•Restrict (between 10%) the staff turnover in all level.•The incentive based salary system should be followed over here for the handlers and associates.•The training of GA’s, handlers as well as the executives should be done once in a month to recapitulate the current and past report their performance.

Other Achievements & My experiencesOther Achievements & My experiences• I had been given the assignment

to co-ordinate with 20 warehouses of 2 major clients of GATI KWE i.e. Next Edu Pvt.Ltd. & Hitachi India Ltd. The duty was to handle 20 managers & prepare the DSR, GRN, SRN report of PAN INDIA and to report to the concerned head. It was the best experience in SCM dept.

• Participated in the training of SQS (Service Quality Standardization)

• Life time membership in the “ Green Peace India “ incorporated by GATI.

• Observation of operational & data leverage.

Conclusions• The recommendations are quite possible to implement for the elimination of

DEPS in GATI KWE & the suggested systems are very much cost effective to implement.

• Because, GATI losses approximately more than one Hundred Corer rupees per annum due to clearance of DEPS, insurance claims, misrouted of data, deductions, freight refund and many more else. If GATI KWE PVT.LTD invests more than fifty Corer rupees for the development of its warehouses infrastructure and material handling equipment’s, salary structure, developed technologies, then company will be in profit of Fifty Corer rupees also.
