Genre - Dubstep

• The genre to our Music video is Dubstep, and personally not listening to dubstep myself it was quite tricky searching up on digipaks and only managed to find album covers. None the less it was a good in sight to what my own version may look like. I like a couple of ideas that I’ve already seen but these are just a few that I found. I hope to do a little more digging and research to hopefully find more inspiration.

NERO – WELCOME TO REALITY

NERO – WELCOME TO REALITYThis Dubstep trio NERO have this album cover (Picture to the left and previous slide) for their album – WELCOME TO REALITY. Initially when I looked at it I thought it looked amazing, the graphics and illustrations look very good and I love the way ‘NERO’ is written. I think the Cover represents Dubstep from the graphics you can just tell it belongs to the dubstep/house genre. I’m hoping to create the same for my cover that when you see it you can instantly tell what genre it is from. The only problem with this cover is that It doesn’t have the artist face which is something I HAVE to do I think since Ava Manhattan is a new upcoming artist so we need her face out there.

KATY B – ON A MISSIONThis is Katy B’s album cover for ‘On a Mission’ I really like it, the gradient colours in the background suits the genre (dubstep) well. I think this is the best example to want I want to create. Since we are following Laura Mulvey’s theory I thinks its important to have Ava Manhattan on the front wearing the corset, not only does this set in with the idea of the ‘male gaze’ but it is something that she wears throughout the video therefore it should be an easy visual to link back to the cover and video. I think it will also encourage our target audience (being the majority of males) to buy it. I also like the simplicity of this cover there isn’t much on it but yet looks appealing.

LA ROUX – BULLET PROOF

La Roux isn’t a dubstep speaker but some of her songs have been remixed by dubstep Dj’s. This is her album cover for Bulletproof. I really kike it in the sense that is fully shows her face ,even though her eyes are closed. I want Ava Manhattans face to be clear because she IS a new upcoming artist I want her face to be out there. The graphics of this album covers looks like something that I want t do. I hope to brush up on my Photoshop skills to achieve this
