The basics

Gender & age group

67% were male, aged 16-18.

This was my initial target audience.

Page 3: Analysis of survey results

What genre of music would you class my music video under?

90% of respondents said that the genre of my music video was rock/indie. I am really pleased that I managed to represent the band and their music genre effectively throughout my music video.

Do you think the style of my music video represents the band and their music, well?

67% said: Yes, it uses common conventions of music videos of this genre.

33% said: It uses some common conventions but also challenges them in some ways.

I am really pleased with the responses I got to this question. I stuck to most of Goodwin’s music video conventions, however, I did try new things to represent the artists alternative personalities and I am glad this was noticed by my audience.

Do you think the editing is effectively used in the music video? 100% said yes. :DI am so pleased with this response.Editing was very difficult and time consuming, and I was

worried about experimenting with the film burn effects and levels for the first time…

Does the setting I have used represent the band and their music well? 100% said yes :DAgain, I am very pleased with this

response.I found it difficult to plan what type of

setting to use for my music video. Many indie/rock bands stick to studio/live actions music videos and It was a big risk to experiment with the woodland.

Do you think the band are wearing appropriate clothing? 100% said yes :DPlanning costume for the music video was quite

difficult. With pop artists colour is important and the opposite applies to heavy metal/rock. Indie/alternative rock is stuck right in the middle. Choosing neutral colours; blacks and greys was clearly the right choice.

Do you think the camera angles and type of camera shots used are

conventional of this genre of music?

50%: Yes, the camera shots used in your music video are commonly used in existing music videos.

50%: Some of the camera shots used are conventional, however you have taken risks with different shots.

This is great feedback! I wanted the camera shots I used to be conventional of rock/alternative music videos to make it easily recognisable however I still wanted to take risks to represent the alternative side to Across The

Board.

Is it important that there is no clear narrative? 100% said yes

I am pleased with this response as I was concerned that not having a clear narrative would effect the overall appeal of

my music video.

What is your overall view on my music video, Digipak and magazine advert?

Here are some of the responses I collected..

I am quite pleased with the comment that all of my products link well together and I agree I could have taken more of a risk with challenging the conventions.
