I have analysed 4 sections in close detail, these are Camera, Mise en Scene, Editing and Sound. Camera The film first starts off with a establishing shot which shows the building which the scene is set in, and then this shot is then replaced by a mid-shot of the block of flats. The production of this film features many close-up shots, as this is a horror and the emotions and reactions need to be captured, an example of this is when there is a close up shot when she first spots the mannequin, and this shot shows the shock and how she scared she gets when she first sees it. The clip I have chosen to analyse closely is Mannequin which is a short film in the horror genre which was released in 2013. I have analysed 4 sections in close detail, these are Camera, Mise en Scene, Editing and Sound.

Camera

The film first starts off with a establishing shot which shows the building which the scene is set in, and then this shot is then replaced by a mid-shot of the block of flats. After this shot it is replaced with a tracking shot which follows the main character and this allows for the audience to see the outside of the flat and then follow the character down the stairs. The production of this film features many close-up shots, as this is a horror and the emotions and reactions need to be captured, an example of this is when there is a close up shot when she first spots the mannequin, and this shot shows the shock and how she scared she gets when

she first sees it. This shot is then followed up with an extreme close up of the mannequin's face which allows the audience to see what the main character got scared of. The close up shots are also used to show expression such as the relied the main character gets when she puffs on a cigarette and the shock that is displayed on her face when she then sights the mannequin from the balcony.

Mise en Scene

The location of the production is set in a flat and the other scenes are developed around the area and around the flat.

Editing

At the start we are produced with a fade in transaction, which allows the audience to get a feel for the scene. They have also used cutaways which allow for the film and the speech to follow through, and this is well used when the main character is walking down the staires, and these cutaways keep up with the tempo of the film and reduce the running time of the film.

Sound

There is both non-diegetic and diegetic sound used in this production. Examples of the non-diegetic sound is the sounds that are created and used to put emphasis on certain scenes in the film, which then allows to create tension which is important in a horror film. Sound in the background is also used to create the emphasis of shock when the main character is seen again. The music for the film sounds like it is made just for the production which gives me ideas for sound to use in my production with my team. The dialog is also louder than the music.
