  • Bad Times! I submitted my proposal for Stuart, Lesley and me to travel through Italy, with two students, investigating the changing landscape and economic history and the impact this has on local dishes by eating in the countrys finest restaurants. It was rejected. On grounds of cost! Unbelievable!

  • Good Times! My concept about locality and food has survived and I have to create a new enquiry that incurs less cost I also have to adhere to certain parameters to ensure that the activity is a genuine enquiry

  • Parameters for EBL The work should be founded in the real world questions, issues, controversies. There must not be a right answer. The work should primarily develop questioning, research and communication skills with an emphasis on solving problems and creating solutions Teachers only facilitate and question Work should be genuinely investigative and students should pursue a line(s) of enquiry, a pathway(s) and find a conclusion not the pathway leading to the result. Students should be able to follow their own lines of enquiry there should not be an established direction or answer It should be collaborative It should constantly deepen understanding of a topic There should be regular critique and reflection There should be an end product or experience, which is somehow assessed or evaluated Emphasis should always be on skills, deepening of understanding, enjoyment and creativity
