• The 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine – a free statewide community information and referral service. The database includes programs that offer free or low cost health and human services or social services, such as rental assistance, energy assistance, medical assistance, food and clothing, child care resources, emergency shelter, and more.
• 2-1-1 is part of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and operates M-F from 8am to 6pm.

The Division of Behavioral Health• Adult Mental Health – state funded and operated
community based mental health care services through Regional Mental Health Centers (RMHC) located throughout the state. The Division of Behavioral Health• Children's Mental Health – staff will help the family complete an application for services; determine child and family eligibility; complete a comprehensive assessment; and develop a service plan identifying specific concerns, strengths, what needs to happen to improve the situation, and how long it should take.
• For families without Medicaid or other insurance, a sliding fee scale is used to determine client cost share; review available and appropriate community providers; and make necessary and appropriate referrals to community-based services.

The Division of Family and Community Services (FACS)
• The 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine – Statewide, toll-free information and referral call line, Community Outreach, etc.
• Child Welfare – child protection services, foster care, adoptions, independent living, interstate compact, and compliance with Indian Child Welfare Act.
• Developmental Disabilities – intensive behavioral intervention program supplying intensive therapy services to children; service coordination and case management; and family support services.
• Infant and Toddler Program – serves children birth to three year of age with developmental delays and disabilities including: therapy, education, service coordination, home visits, and health services.
• Navigation – serves individuals, families, and children who may benefit from one-on-one assistance in developing a service plan to meet their goals for stability, self-sufficiency, health and safety through 120 days of case management services.
• Southwest Idaho Treatment Center (SWITC) – a state-operated facility for developmental disabled individuals who are engaging in behaviors which are dangerous to themselves or others.

The Division of Welfare (Self Reliance)• Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP) – provides child care assistance to low-
income, working families by paying for a portion of child care. This is for parents who work, attend school, or participate in approved activities to help prevent children from being placed in foster care.
• Food Stamps – supplemental food assistance based on household size and income.
• Temporary Assistance to Families in Idaho (TAFI)– TAFI (Traditional): provides temporary cash assistance and work
preparation services for families with children.– TAFI (Child Only): provides cash assistance for kinship providers
raising relative children.• Aid for Aged, Blind, and Disabled (AABD) – provides cash assistance for
individuals who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled.• Child Support – locating non-custodial parent; establishes legal
relationship (paternity) between a father and his child; establish child support obligations; make sure child support is paid; make sure medical support is provided; and change child support orders.

Intermountain Fair Housing Council
The Intermountain Fair Housing Council (IFHC) is a nonprofit organization that promotes fair housing practice for housing consumers and housing providers
throughout Idaho.
The IFHC:• Provides information and education services to housing consumers, housing
providers, community organizations, and lending institutions.• Monitors fair housing compliance of housing providers, lending institutions, and
local and state governments.• Engages in enforcement activities which include investigation, testing, and
complaint filing with State or Federal authorities.• Negotiates fair housing settlements by mediation, conciliation, or litigation, if
necessary.

Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline
Idaho Suicide Prevention Hotline provides crisis intervention, emotional support, problem solving and referrals to local resources for persons at risk for suicide and for those concerned about them.• Idaho is consistently among the states with the highest suicide rates.
In 2013 (the most recent year available) Idaho had the 8th highest suicide rate, 44% higher than the national average.
• In 2013, 308 people completed suicide in Idaho; a slight increase from 2012.
• Between 2009 and 2013, 79% of Idaho suicides were by men.• In 2013, 65% of Idaho suicides involved a firearm. The national average
is 51%.– 5.8% (1 in 7) of Idaho youth attending regular public and charter
high schools reported seriously considering suicide in 2013. – 7.0% (1 in 14) reported making at least one attempt.
• A ten percent (10%) reduction in Idaho suicide attempts can immediately save over $4 million per year in medical costs alone. If the cost burden of suicide in Idaho was evenly distributed over the population (2008) the burden would amount to over $250 for every person living in Idaho (Piland, 2010).

Our Community
• Many communities in Idaho have a Community Action Partnership Agency. Services vary depending on the local CAP Agency.
• Many CAP Agencies offer a variety of services, which may include:
• The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) - provides food baskets to eligible households.
• Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - helps eligible low-income families pay a portion of the costs for heating their homes in Idaho's winter months. Energy conservation education is also available.
• Idaho Telephone Service Assistance Program (ITSAP) - helps eligible low-income families pay for basic telephone service installation costs or monthly costs for basic residential phone service.
• Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) - helps eligible low-income families conserve energy, save money, and improve living conditions by repairing or replacing heat sources (heaters, furnaces, etc.), installing insulation, weather stripping, and caulking around windows and doors.

Idaho Public Health Districts
• As independent agencies, Idaho's seven health districts are primary outlets for public health services. These districts work closely with Health and Welfare and other state and local agencies. Each district has a board of health appointed by county commissioners within that region. The districts are not part of any state agency.
• Each district responds to local needs to provide services that may vary from district to district, ranging from community health nursing and home health nursing to environmental health, dental hygiene and nutrition. Many services are provided through contracts with Health and Welfare.
