Acknowledgments

Pastor Stephen P. Bohr has been credited for serving the Seventh-day Adventist Church faithfully for over thirty years and has contributed greatly to the cause of truth. In one of his latest contributions to the church and to the international community is an exposition of the Seven Trumpets of Revelation. Brilliantly and scholarly done, Pastor Bohr has made his findings available for all to obtain in CD and MP3 format at Secrets Unsealed with optional study notes available. With such a demand for clarity on the Trumpets of Revelation he is the first to identify the symbols aright from the scriptures. Forthcoming, will be my vast historical documentation from the primary and secondary sources that will also fully sustain Pastor Bohr’s scriptural interpretation of the 6th Trumpet. A work entitled, Islam: Satan’s Counterfeit Prophecy. However, with many, they still prefer obtaining their information in book or in paper format. In this way it can be easily referenced, highlighted, with the appropriate notes added when and where one so desires. The paper you hold in your hand is hereby presented to meet that demand in presenting the work of Pastor Bohr’s 6th Trumpet only. With the 6th Trumpet still having its appliance in force until the close of probation (Rev. 10:7) it is little wonder for its demand and clarity. I have arranged this work into such a manner with the intent that the author not be maligned. It is encouraged for all readers to obtain Pastor Bohr’s entire exposition on the Seven Trumpets of Revelation.

Verse 13: And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Does Rev. 9:13 indicate that the sixth trumpet is sounded when the priestly ministry of Christ is in the first or second apartment?

“As in vision the apostle John was granted a view of the temple of God in heaven, he beheld there "seven lamps of fire burning before the throne." He saw an angel "having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." Revelation 4:5; 8:3. Here the prophet was permitted to behold the first apartment of the sanctuary in heaven; and he saw there the "seven lamps of fire" and the "golden altar" represented by the golden candlestick and the altar of incense in the sanctuary on earth. Again, "the temple of God was opened" (Revelation 11:19), and he looked within the inner veil, upon the holy of holies. Here he beheld "the ark of His testament" (Revelation 11:19), represented by the sacred chest constructed by Moses to contain the law of God.”1

In agreement with a first apartment setting for Rev. 4:5, 8:3 and a second apartment setting for Rev. 11:19 Ellen White says nothing for Rev. 9:13. All of the above do not allow for any movement of Christ from one apartment to another for that would be confusion compounded. (We do not dispute His movement from the first apartment of the heavenly sanctuary to that of the second apartment on Oct. 22, 1844 for this is not the issue of our discussion) With that being true as we will shortly demonstrate, then the same applies for Rev. 9:13. The prophecies are clearly describing time and place in the chain of events that are taking place while Jesus is performing his priestly functions in the designated apartment of the heavenly sanctuary after His resurrection

and ascension. Having completed the inauguration and anointing of the heavenly sanctuary (Rev. 4-5) Christ began solely His first apartment functions, terminating in 1844. The second apartment priestly services of Christ that began the investigative judgment as well commenced on Oct. 22, 1844 and will terminate at the close of human probation. We observe that the gospel or salvation is still obtainable under the 6th trumpet:

“Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.” Rev. 9:21.

We also take notice that the 6th trumpet extends to the closing of the gospel invitation, when the mystery of God should be finished (Eph. 6:19, Col. 4:3, Eph. 3:3,6), the close of probation:

“But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” Rev. 10:7.

This is also confirmed when the 7th trumpet begins to sound:

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become [the kingdoms] of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.” Rev. 11:15

When do the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ? It is not until the solemn declaration has gone forth and every case has been forever fixed for eternal life or eternal death, “then” Jesus receives his Kingdom, hence, the close of human probation:

“I saw Jesus, who had been ministering before the ark containing the ten commandments, throw down the censer.

3

Page 5: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

He raised His hands, and with a loud voice said, “It is done.” And all the angelic host laid off their crowns as Jesus made the solemn declaration, “He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” Every case had been decided for life or death. While Jesus had been ministering in the sanctuary, the judgment had been going on for the righteous dead, and then for the righteous living. Christ had received His kingdom, having made the atonement for His people and blotted out their sins. The subjects of the kingdom were made up. The marriage of the Lamb was consummated. And the kingdom, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, was given to Jesus and the heirs of salvation, and Jesus was to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.”2

Coming back to our initial question, what apartment should we look for Christ to be in will now be made clear when we contrast the scriptures along-side these two texts:

Rev. 8:3 “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.” Rev. 9:13 “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,”

Attention to detail is important and heaven is calling our attention to those differences. Rev. 8:3 is without question a first apartment description as scripture, history, (time and place of events) and Ellen                                                             2 Ellen White, Early Writings, (Washington, D.C: Review and Herald, 1945), 279-280.

4

Page 6: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

White confirms; however that is not the case with Rev. 9:13, our text under scrutiny. Yes, the golden altar is in the first apartment, however, notice the importance that is being placed upon the “four horns” of that altar when we compare type and antitype in the established perimeters of our time and place of scriptural emphasis:

Ex. 30:10 “And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.”

Lev. 16:16 “And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

v.17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

v.18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

v.19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.”

Having established already from the scriptures that the 6th trumpet

extends to the close of probation and rightly understanding type and antitype with the emphasis of the golden altar now on the “four horns” of that altar it is an indisputable fact that Jesus is in the second apartment of the heavenly sanctuary. In fact, we will shortly demonstrate from Rev. 9:15 that the commencement of the 6th trumpet had its orientation

5

Page 7: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

in the second apartment of the heavenly sanctuary as well. This will also demonstrate to the fact that there is no movement of Christ from one apartment to another. (There is no denial that Christ has since moved from the first apartment of the heavenly sanctuary to the second apartment of that heavenly sanctuary to commence the investigative judgment beginning on Oct. 22, 1844, however, this is not the issue that we are presenting). The point I wish to establish here is that when Christ is presented by Ellen White in Rev. 4:5 for example in the first apartment He does not move from that apartment to the second apartment during the entire scope of “that” vision. That holds true also for 8:3, 9:13, and 11:19. When Christ is presented in the second apartment as in Rev. 11:19, we cannot say he goes back into the door He has shut, the first apartment, no, the visions reveal if he is pictured as in the first apartment then the initial specifications of that prophecy must find its fulfillment between the first century AD up to 1844 and never beyond because the text can only have one correct interpretation, however there can and sometimes will be seen certain texts will have a double or even multiple future “applications” as given by Ellen White but the contexts of the given specifications will determine time and place of fulfillment. This will likewise hold true with a second apartment description, from 1844 to the close of probation. Rev. 4:5, 8:3, 9:13, and 11:19 is the key that establishes to which apartment of the heavenly sanctuary that Christ is presiding in. The given specifications of Rev. 4:5 and 8:3 will demonstrate that its scriptural and historical fulfillments will be established between the first century AD and up to Oct. 22, 1844. This key is given to help the reader place perimeters on the specifications in order to stay within the prophecies designated time and place. The scriptural and historical specifications of Rev. 9:13 and 11:19 will demonstrate that its fulfillment will take place while Christ is presiding in the second apartment of that heavenly sanctuary from, Oct. 22, 1844, to the close of probation. There are some places in the visions that we are given another “application” by Ellen White but it is not another prophecy. In Daniel 11: 31-36 (MR 13:394 for example in quoting these verses) speaking of the dark ages, she told us these scriptures will be repeated but not the prophecy. The same can be said

6

Page 8: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

about the “souls under the altar” this prophecy with its given specifications was “fulfilled” during the 1260 years, however it has another “application” given to it by Ellen White under Rev. 18:1-5 but it is not the fulfillment of that prophecy. The same may also be said for the praise anthem for Rev. 5:11-14 as the specifications given for the prophecy do not take us past the first century. Nevertheless, Ellen White gives the praise anthem multiple future applications.

However, let’s clarify the significance of the “four horns of the

golden altar.” The first apartment ministry does not stop when the second apartment ministry begins in 1844, otherwise nobody could be saved after 1844. Salvation comes through the first apartment ministry; judgment comes from the second apartment. They run together after 1844. Note that in Lev. 16 the daily was done before and after the special services of the Day of Atonement in the earthly Sanctuary in preparation for the New Year’s services. The anointing of the horns takes place on Day of Atonement because the priest goes the deepest into the sanctuary, the most holy place and atones for it, then he atones for the holy place, including the four horns and then he atones for the altar in the courtyard. This is the complete cleansing service and then it is all sent away on the scapegoat. The priest goes the deepest and then backs out, atoning for each as it goes. This does not negate the daily use of the altar of incense. What we have here is just what Ellen White said was to happen that the end will come more quickly than many think when the “three fold union” is at its peak and why she said that it will surprise even Seventh-day Adventist:

“But there is a day that God hath appointed for the close of

this world's history. This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Prophecy is fast fulfilling. More, much more, should be said about these tremendously important subjects. The day is at hand when the destiny of every soul will be fixed forever. This day of the Lord hastens on apace. The false watchmen are raising the cry, “All is

7

Page 9: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

well”; but the day of God is rapidly approaching. Its footsteps are so muffled that it does not arouse the world from the deathlike slumber into which it has fallen. While the watchmen cry, “Peace and safety,” “sudden destruction cometh upon them,” “and they shall not escape”; “for as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” It overtakes the pleasure-lover and the sinful man as a thief in the night. When all is apparently secure, and men retire to contented rest, then the prowling, stealthy, midnight thief steals upon his prey. When it is too late to prevent the evil, it is discovered that some door or window was not secured. [“When we make any reserve we are leaving open a door through which Satan can enter to lead us astray by his temptations.” Ellen White, Mount of Blessings, 92.] “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” People are now settling to rest, imagining themselves secure under the popular churches; but let all beware, lest there is a place left open for the enemy to gain an entrance. Great pains should be taken to keep this subject before the people. The solemn fact is to be kept not only before the people of the world, but before our own churches also, that the day of the Lord will come suddenly, unexpectedly. The fearful warning of the prophecy is addressed to every soul. Let no one feel that he is secure from the danger of being surprised. Let no one's interpretation of prophecy rob you of the conviction of the knowledge of events which show that this great event is near at hand.”3

When all are thinking Peace and Prosperity then sudden destruction,

this reveals that human probation has closed and what we witness here is simply the final steps of the cleansing of the sanctuary itself.

Verse 14: “Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.”

Four in the scriptures denotes universality or global extent:

Eze. 7:2 “Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD

unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.”

Matt. 24:31 “And he shall send his angels with a great

sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Rev. 7:1 “And after these things I saw four angels

standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Rev. 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,”

These are evil angels that are waiting for God to release them so that

they can wreak havoc on mankind as can be seen in the succeeding context. Going on to another point: If these evil angels need to be released it must mean that they were restrained. What is it that restrained these angels from manifesting their destructive power? Revelation 12:16 explains what restrained them—the earth. The papacy received a deadly wound in 1798 and the civil governments of the world have kept that wound in place. But when the beast from the earth gives civil power back to the papacy then the restraint will be removed and the final display of Satan’s power will be manifested.

9

Page 11: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

Bound - Means what?

Rev. 20:1 “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

Rev. 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,”

Malachi Martin in The Keys of this Blood had this to say about the Pope’s “purpose to free the papacy from the straitjacket of inactivity in world affairs imposed upon it by the major secular powers for 200 years”:

“In this timely and provocative new book, best-selling author Malachi Martin reveals the untold story behind the Vatican's role in the collapse of the Iron Curtain, as well as Pope John Paul II’s far-reaching assessment of the three-way contest now unfolding among the global powers-the Soviet Union under Mikhail Gorbachev, the capitalist nations of the West. And the Pope's own universal Roman Church-a winner-take-all race against time and each other to establish, maintain, and control the first one-world government that has ever existed on the face of the earth. From the first moment of his pontificate, it was John Paul’s purpose to free the papacy from the straitjacket of inactivity in world affairs imposed upon it by the major secular powers for 200 years. It was his purpose to end the morally toxic and humanly untenable balance-of power arrangements that had led in our century to the slaughter of two world wars and countless smaller conflicts worldwide. And it was his purpose to end the division of nations into two warring camps that for nearly half a century had condoned the enslavement and starvation of millions and had

10

Page 12: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

condemned the world to the terror of nuclear brinksmanship.”4

“Let the restraints [bound] now imposed by secular governments be removed and Rome be reinstated in her former power, and there would speedily be a revival of her tyranny and persecution.”5

The Great River Euphrates of Rev. 9:14 and Rev. 16:13-146 are one and the same event with further specifications of Babylon’s persecuting objectives. In 1798 Rome’s persecuting power ceased to flow, symbolized by the “Great River Euphrates”. However, Rome’s persecuting power is going to have a resurrection and The Great River Euphrates (Babylon’s life support, symbolizing persecution) is going to flow again. Some have sought to find an application of the sixth trumpet to the phenomenal growth of radical Islam because the river Euphrates is mentioned. The question that begs to be asked is this: What hermeneutical principle allows them to say that the Euphrates in Revelation 9 is referring to a literal geographical location in the Middle East while the Euphrates of Revelation 16 refers to the multitudes of the whole world under the control of spiritual Babylon. In short, why is the Euphrates in Revelation 16:12 to be understood as symbolic while the one in Revelation 9 is to be understood as literal when both of them apply to the same period of the end time (sixth trumpet and sixth plague)? Are not geographical restrictions removed after the cross? When we analyze v. 15 it will cement the fact that this marshalling of Satan’s forces was gradually being released from Oct 22, 1844:

“Already the inhabitants of the earth are marshalling under the leading of the prince of darkness.”7

Notice how Ellen White understands Revelation 16:13, 14:

“The Spirit of God is gradually withdrawing from the world. Satan is also mustering his forces of evil, going forth "unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world," to gather them under his banner, to be trained for "the battle of that great day of God Almighty”8 [Revelation 16:14]

“Satan is marshalling his forces for the last great struggle [the Battle of Armageddon], "to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." If we would be true to God, we cannot escape the conflict. But we are not left in doubt as to the issue. Beyond the smoke and heat [smoke, fire and brimstone] of the battle, we behold "them that had gotten the victory" standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb.”9

Verse 15: Rev. 9:15 “And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an [the] (the article “teen”) hour, and day, and month, and year, for to slay the third part of men.”

“Four angels were loosed” The number four in the Bible denotes universality or global extension. As we have noted, Revelation 16:14 tells us that the entire world will be gathered together in rebellion against God by the spirits of devils.

12

Page 14: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

“[The] (the article “teen”) hour, and day, and month, and year” What is meant by the expression, ‘the hour, the day, the month and the year? A careful study of Revelation indicates that the hour is ‘the hour of God’s judgment:

Rev. 14:6 “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Rev. 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

With the 6th Trumpet presented in the context of the sanctuary other parts of Scripture indicate that the day refers to the 10th day, the month is Tishri (the seventh month):

Lev. 23:27 “Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.”

And the year is 1844:

Dan. 8:14 “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”

Rev. 3:7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Rev. 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little

13

Page 15: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Rev. 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

“The article [teen], once only before all the periods, implies that the hour in the day, and the day in the month, and the month in the year, and the year itself, had been definitely fixed by God.”10

Heaven has hereby foretold the moral fall of apostate Protestantism: Oct. 22, 1844.

“Slay the third part of men”

“Third” represents a partial judgment:

Eze. 5:1 “And thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair. 5:2 Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them. 5:3 Thou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.

5:4 Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel. 5:12 A third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.” Zechariah 13:8 “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.”

The fact that this is not the final and total destruction of the wicked after the close of probation is indicated by the fact that only a third of humanity is killed by this devastating army of demons. The supposition that it refers to a third of the Roman Empire is of human origin and has no foundation from the scriptures.

Verse 16: “And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

200 million!

The number of the enemy is huge in comparison to the 144,000 of Revelation 7:4:

15

Page 17: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

“And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”

These are the only two verses in Revelation where John uses the expression “I heard the number of them” so they must be related in some way. Revelation 7:4 is transpiring during the sixth seal and Revelation 9:16 is occurring during the period of the sixth trumpet. Notice how Ellen White contrasts the number of God’s followers with those of Satan:

“The remnant church will be brought into great trial and distress. Those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus will feel the ire of the dragon and his hosts. Satan numbers the world as his subjects, he has gained control of the apostate churches; but here is a little company that are resisting his supremacy. If he could blot them from the earth, his triumph would be complete.”11

Verse 17: “And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, [Red] and of jacinth, [Blue] and brimstone [Yellow]: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.” This is clearly an army that rises from hell. These are the same spirits of demons in Revelation 16:14 who are released to gather the kings of the earth and the whole world against God’s people. They are also the demons that are mentioned in connection with the fourth angel’s message in Revelation 18:2, 3.

Ps. 11:6 “Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.”

Eze. 38:22 “And I will plead against him with pestilence

and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.”

Rev. 14:10 “The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath

of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:”

Rev. 19:20 “And the beast was taken, and with him the

false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”

Rev. 20:10 “And the devil that deceived them was cast

into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

Rev. 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the

abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

Rev. 13:2 “And the beast which I saw was like unto a

leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”

Eze. 38:13 “Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of

Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Leviathan:

Job 41:1 “Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?”

Job 41:19 “Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks

of fire leap out. Job 41:20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a

seething pot or caldron. Job 41:21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out

of his mouth. Job 41:31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh

the sea like a pot of ointment.”

Job 41:34 “He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.”

Job 1-2 = Satan Isa. 27:1 “In that day the LORD with his sore and great

and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Rev. 12:7 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his

angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

Rev. 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Rev. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Verse 18: “By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.”

What comes out of the mouth is what kills the wicked. In the book of Revelation, fire, brimstone and smoke are identified with those who worship the beast and his image and receive the mark:

Rev. 14:9 “And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, Rev. 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and

brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: Rev. 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”

Notably Revelation 16:13 explains that the evil spirits come out of the mouth of the threefold union.

Verse 19: “For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.”

The horses have mouths like lions. Elsewhere in the Bible Babylon is portrayed as a devouring lion (Daniel 7:2) as is its king, Nebuchadnezzar (Jeremiah 4:7) and Satan is described as a devouring lion who seeks whom he may devour (1Pet 5:8).

Dan. 7:2 “Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.”

Jer. 4:7 “The lion is come up from his thicket, and the

destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.”

1Pet. 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary

the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

Revelation 16:13, 14 clarifies that the false doctrines of the three counterfeit angels come out of the mouth and they gather the wicked for

20

the final battle against God. The tail is a symbol of lies (Revelation 12:3-4; John 8:44; Isaiah 9:15). Notice that the mouth is in the tail.

Rev. 12:3 “And there appeared another wonder in heaven;

and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.

Rev. 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.”

John 8:44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of

your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

Isa. 9:15 “The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and

the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.”

Verse 20: “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:”

Rev. 18:2 “And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”

21

Page 23: An Exposition of the 6th Trumpet of Revelation by Pastor Stephen P. Bohr

The expression “idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk” comes almost verbatim from Daniel 5:23. Daniel 5 is discussing the fall of Babylon when the Euphrates was dried up. Thus three passages are linked: The fall of Babylon in Daniel 5, the drying up of the Euphrates in Revelation 16:12 and the sixth trumpet of Revelation 9:20.

Dan. 5:23 “But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:”

Verse 21: “Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”

Revelation 17:6; 18:20, 24 describes Babylon as a murderer of God’s people Revelation 18:23 refers to the sorceries of Babylon as one of the reasons for her fall Revelation 17:2 portrays the adultery or fornication of the harlot with the kings of the earth Revelation 18:10-13 describes this system as greedy and enslaving, stealing from the poor and favoring the rich. This greediness is described in James 5:1-8.

Since 1844 both armies have been in the process of being gathered. God’s three angels have gathered the righteous (Rev. 14:6-12) while Satan’s three angels have gathered the wicked (Rev. 16:13-14). The sixth trumpet in Revelation 9:13-21 describes the gathering of the

22

wicked for battle while Revelation 10 describes the gathering of the righteous on God’s side. Rev.18:1-5 describes the final gathering of the righteous under God’s fourth angel. However, before that time Satan’s fourth angel will try to prevent it by introducing a counterfeit12 The only three places in Revelation where the word “demons” appears is in Revelation 16:14; 9:20 and 18:1-5. Furthermore, the only place where the great river Euphrates appears is Revelation 9 and Revelation 16. Therefore we know that there is a link between these two passages.

Murderer:

Rev. 17:6 “And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.”

Rev. 18:20 “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy

apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. Rev. 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets,

and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”

Sorceries:

Rev. 18:23 “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.”

Fornication:

Rev. 17:2 “With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

23

Rev. 19:1 “And after these things I heard a great voice of

much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

Rev. 19:2 “For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Thefts:

Rev. 18:10 “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Rev. 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Rev. 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Rev. 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.”

Jas. 5:1 “Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

Jas. 5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

Jas. 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh

as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Jas. 5:4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Jas. 5:5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

Jas. 5:6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

Jas. 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Jas. 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.”

Thefts will also include a repeat of the confiscations of the people’s assets as it was during the dark ages and confirmed by Ellen White. May the Lord find us all prepared for the final crisis is our sincere prayer.
