Hauger scored on runs of two, three and 24 yards, av- eraging 6.1 yards per carry. Brady Hale’s 27-yard pass to Colton Frohreich resulted in the other Bucks score. Cody Hanzlik and Dusty Dvorak had five tackles each for the Yankton defense. Ethan Lucht, Austin Schwarz and Andrew Larson recovered fumbles. Surfing To Be Official High School Sport In Hawaii HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii will soon become the first state in the nation to have surfing as an official high school sport. Gov. Neil Abercrombie and state education officials on Monday said that surfing will join the likes of football, bas- ketball, volleyball and swimming as a state-sanctioned prep sport, starting as early as Spring 2013. A news conference was held on Waikiki beach near the statue of island icon Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic gold medal swimmer known as the father of modern surf- ing. Surfing is part of the culture in Hawaii, known for its world-class surf breaks and competitions. The Aloha State is home to many pro surfers and has produced several world champions. Hawaii’s Carissa Moore, who this summer became the youngest world champion at age 18, joined Abercrombie in the announcement. That was me on Monday. I spent the entire day in Vermillion on two assignments. First, I covered and took photos at the opening round of the S.D. State Class A Boys’ Golf Tournament at The Bluffs Golf Course. Then I covered the USD vs. SDSU volleyball match at the DakotaDome. It made for a long but rather interesting day. The wind at the golf course certainly impacted the scores, but one golfer clearly stood out. Defending cham- pion Ryan Medhaug of Sisseton shot a 70, the only participant under par in the first round. He was very open about the pressures of being the defending champ, which was refreshing to hear. Heading into today’s (Tuesday) final round, the team race is tied between Harrisburg and Dell Rapids. Not only that, three-time defending champion Sioux Falls Christian sits in fourth place. It’ll be an entertaining bat- tle for the team crown, for sure. Then, at the State-U volleyball match, it was a great atmosphere to experience, as over 1,000 people filed into the Dome. USD students were out in full force, and even some of the men's basketball players painted their chests to spell out “Yotes.” All in all, it was an exhausting adventure. Surfing To Be Official HighSchool Sport In Hawaii
HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii will soon become the firststate in the nation to have surfing as an official high schoolsport.
Gov. Neil Abercrombie and state education officials onMonday said that surfing will join the likes of football, bas-ketball, volleyball and swimming as a state-sanctionedprep sport, starting as early as Spring 2013.
A news conference was held on Waikiki beach nearthe statue of island icon Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympicgold medal swimmer known as the father of modern surf-ing.
Surfing is part of the culture in Hawaii, known for itsworld-class surf breaks and competitions. The Aloha Stateis home to many pro surfers and has produced severalworld champions.
Hawaii’s Carissa Moore, who this summer became theyoungest world champion at age 18, joined Abercrombiein the announcement.

VERMILLION — Ever been so busy that exhaustion and hunger are almost afterthoughts?That was me on Monday.I spent the entire day in Vermillion on two assignments. First, I covered and took photos at the opening
round of the S.D. State Class A Boys’ Golf Tournament at The Bluffs Golf Course. Then I covered the USD vs.SDSU volleyball match at the DakotaDome.
It made for a long but rather interesting day.The wind at the golf course certainly impacted the scores, but one golfer clearly stood out. Defending cham-
pion Ryan Medhaug of Sisseton shot a 70, the only participant under par in the first round. He was very openabout the pressures of being the defending champ, which was refreshing to hear.
Heading into today’s (Tuesday) final round, the team race is tied between Harrisburg and Dell Rapids. Notonly that, three-time defending champion Sioux Falls Christian sits in fourth place. It’ll be an entertaining bat-tle for the team crown, for sure.
Then, at the State-U volleyball match, it was a great atmosphere to experience, as over 1,000 people filedinto the Dome. USD students were out in full force, and even some of the men's basketball players painted theirchests to spell out “Yotes.”
All in all, it was an exhausting adventure. OK now I think it’s time to eat something.
