Construction period: Products used: Contractor: Designer: Client: Consultant: CASE HISTORY Rev: 01, Apr 08, 2019 SLOPE PROTECTION Production: MacMat R 6822 GO EROSION CONTROL ON THE AMUR GPP RAILWAY AMUR REGION, DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF SVOBODNIY Construction site Amur GPP Problem description The railway was built from the station of Ust-Pera of the Trans -Siberian Railway to Amur gas processing plant for equipment and materials transportation and finished products delivery. The height of the railway embankment is more than 26 meters and slope length exceeds 50 m. Such high and extended slopes required the stabilizing. Solution description To stabilize the subgrade slopes, the project envisaged the slope strengthening with MacMat R 6822 GO, geosynthetic material, reinforced with a double twist wire mesh. To ensure the subgrade stability the 640,000 sq. m of reinforced geomat were installed. The steel wire mesh of the geomat has additional PVC coating that protects the wire from the chemical and biological effects of the environment. The geomat MacMat is a three-dimensional panel of polypropylene fibers tangled together and forming a highly elastic layer of high porosity. Thanks to this structure, the plant roots sprout through it. Tangled with the material fibers they form complex structure that stabilizes the topsoil. For germination of plant roots through the geomat, at the stage of dumping vegetable soil, hydro-seeding was used at the construction site.
