1703, he became king in the name of Somdej Phra Sonpej VIII. The reason he was given the name “Phra Jaao Sua” was because he was born in the year of the tiger (Sua), he was also a tough character, he did what he said, at the same time he was kindly to anyone who was a good person For example, there is a story, all Thai people knew that, one day Pantaai Norasink, who was in the stern of the Royal boat, made the head of the Royal boat bang against the branch of a tree on the Clong Cok Kham (canal) which was curved and bent. This caused the head of the Royal boat to break down. By palace law Pantaai Norasink would get the death penalty. Pkra Jaao Sua forgave him, but he adhered strictly to the palace law in order to make the rule efficacious, he was willing to die, and asked the king to care for his family, so he was killed.
It is said that Phra Jaao Sua pre-ferred boxing, fishing, hunting animals, he sometime made himself look like an ordinary person and went

The Barn Plu Loung dynasty was the 5th of Ayutthaya. Somdej Phra Petraja who created it and he was the first king of this dynasty. It is said that he originally came from Barn Plu Loung, now in Sanamchai district, Supanburi Province, Thailand. Some historians said that he was in favour of nationalism as he was against foreigners who came to influence Ayutthaya kingdom.
omdej Phra Petraja was the 28th king of Ayutthaya, he came to the
throne in 1688. He forced the French soldiers to leave Ayutthaya and they fought at Bangkok (now a Royal naval base). They were held in blockage for about 2 months, then they signed an agreement to leave Thailand and the Thai should pay all fees for their journey, in contrast France should do the same for the Thai who worked in France, enabling them to return home. This means that Thailand and France had finished friendly relationships. But

Although Somdej Phra Petraja was facing his own problems but some neighbouring countries such as Cambodia gave a white elephant and made friends with him. Also the king of Sisattana Kanahud offered presents to him and asked his soldiers to help the army to stop the Loung Phra Bang army invasion. Then he went there to arrange a compromise between them and make friends. He also modified the new administration. The Northern regions were controlled by Samuha Nayok, and Samuha Kalahom controlled the South regions. All those individual regions had to administrate both the army and civilians as well as adding force to the department of Bovonsathan Mongal to defend the capital. He passed away in 1703 when he was 71 years of age.
The 29th king of Ayutthaya was Phra Jaao Sua. Before he became king he worked for King Narai the great, and he got the title of Loung Sorasak, later in the reign of Somdej Phra Petraja he was Maha Up-araja (vice king). After the last king died in
Holland was still trading with Thai-land but was not involved in Thai politics.
In the reign of Somdej Phra Petra ja there we r e a l w a y s problems with peace through 15 years, because it was alleged that he took over the throne of a previous king. This resulted in his facing rebels, but he ordered Loung Sorasak to defeat them. They were two rulers of Nakon Rajasima amd Nakon Sidhammaraj who were ap-pointed by King Narai the great, they would not accept Somdej Phra Petraja, so Somdej Phra Petraja sent an army to fight with them for about 2 years, and he won the combat. These were the big challenges to stability of his reign.

Thailand Flooding Fund Raising Project
Chang Beerat the Birmingham Chilli Festival
on 21- 22 October, 2011 at Brindleyplace, Birmingham
Everton donating blankets to Thailand
Thai Students from Teesside University appreciated Chang Beer support for their Thailand Flooding Fund Raising Project.
The Fund Raising Charity Event for Thai-land Flooding event held on Friday 28,
2011. The students said that with Chang beer support has helped them vastly and the outcome for this event has been very successful. They have managed to raise £1,380.20 in total. The amount has yet to be finalized as Sahaviriya Steel Industry (SSI) UK is still in the process of raising
funds and pass the funds to them later.
This project was done by all Teesside Thai Students total of less than 35 students, along with International Students from various parts of the world, and a support from Chang Beer. This created a mas-sive awareness to local people about the flooding situation in Thailand. This project will generate more or less help to Thai People who are currently suffering this catastrophic event.
Chang Beer joined the first ever Chilli Festival to be held in Birmingham hosted by Brindleyplace in October.
The wide range of stalls at the festival offered both chilli-related produce such
as jam, chutneys, breads, oils and chocolate as well as food to eat on the day from across the globe as well as a stall from
Chang Beer.
The fiery festival featured live cooking demonstrations with a chilli theme from a number of chefs around Brindleyplace including Bank Restaurant, Thai Edge and Edmunds and a “Ready, Steady, Shake!” cocktail demonstration from the popular bar, Nuvo.
Everton donated a quantity of blankets that will be sent to Thailand and distributed to those most affected by the floods.
Everton Football Club has reached out to the people of Bangkok as the
Thai capital continues to recover from some of the worst flooding seen in recent decades. Blues chief executive Robert Elstone and head of sponsorship Lorraine O’Brien were at the House of Lords on Thursday 3rd
November and met with a delegation of prominent Thai visitors including the owner of Thai Bev and chairman of the Club’s main partner Chang Beer Khun Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi and his wife Khunying Wanna. The reception in the capital was hosted by the Baroness of Scotland as the Asian country attempts to steadily rebuild large parts of Bangkok that have been ravaged by the rain. Everton has been involved in a partner-ship with Thai brewers Chang since 2004
and Mr.Elstone made a presentation of Everton blankets that will be sent to Thailand and distributed to those people most affected. He said: “Chang live and breathe the ‘People’s Club’ values and we fit together so well. All of us have seen the terrible flooding affecting large areas of the country including Bangkok, indeed they have forced the closure of the Chang brewery, and we were delighted to help albeit in a modest way.” In addition to this, the Club also raised £1000 at last weekend’s fixture against Manchester United to help the Surin Project, an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. Shahkrit Yamnarm (Chris) and his girlfriend, Woonsen Virithipa visited London for 10 days to film a television drama, Chumphu Kammum ªÁ¾Ù‹á¡ŒÁáËÁ‹Á, for channel 3 Thai Television. Arriving 13 October, they and the crew stayed in London filming at various different locations for two weeks. Luckily, there was plenty of sunshine during that time. During their stay they filmed in London’s Regent’s Park, as well as loca-tions such as at Cotswolds. The filming will be completed in Bangkok.

How does that feel?Chris: It was a surprise at first and felt weird. But it’s cool. We spend more time together which is good because we get to know each other
better and grew very close and happy together.Amthai: How is your love life now? Has your life changed a lot from w h e n you were single?Chris: Love is going great and growing more mature every day, we learn from our mistakes. It is good as we spend more time together

I am happy now as we support each other and share our thoughts.Amthai: When will you two marry?Chris: You will know, when the day comes I will announce it and you will know when we marry .We will let all our relatives and close friends know first and then announce it.
Amthai: Do you have any more international projects or
Hollywood movies at the moment?Chris: The film business is not doing well at the moment . I’ve got two to three projects

I think I’m lucky to get all these opportunities Amthai: Do you have a message for the Thai people living in the UK?Chris: UK is so far away from Thailand, and I’m so happy to be a part of the UK. Busaba Eathai is a new chain of modern Thai restaurants. We visited the branch in Bird Street, just off Bond Street.
We began with pumpkin curry and crabmeat fried rice. The crabmeat
fried rice was very tasty, but we preferred the pumpkin curry, which was lovely and extremely creamy. In addition, we had two specialties of this particular branch. One was the Dolly Pad Mee, a traditional fried instant noodles dish in Thailand but not always available in Britain. This was deli-cious. Best of all, however, was the Thai calamari. This was a crispy and slightly
spicy version of calamari familiar from Ital-ian cuisine. It was delicious, and we were informed by Khun Tu, the manager, that this dish is extremely popular, selling more than 100,000 portions for the first half of the year 2011.
Busaba Eathai will satisfy diners seeking traditional Thai dishes as well as those who prefer modern fusion food. Opening Times Monday–Thursday 12 noon–11.00pmFriday–Saturday 12 noon–11.30pmSunday 12 noon–10.00pm

amthaiMae Naak OperaOpera Siam’s 2011 UK Tour on 14, 15, 17 September
Continued from last Issue
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to the United Kingdom, and of the seventh Cycle of His Majesty the King, Opera Siam’s 2011 UK tour included a performance of Mae Naak opera in the Bloomsbury Theatre. The event was sup-ported by Crown Property Bureau, Thai Airways International, Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Siam Winery, Office of Contemporary Art and Culture and Siam Cement. A revival the original set design from 2003 and 2005, the 2011 version of Mae Naak was the first time the opera was performed in the UK.
Amthai: How do you feel taking this role? Is it your first performance in London?Nancy: I’ve been performing in London for 20 years. Singing here for Mr.Somtow project, I’m so proud to be at the heart of the whole project, working with Somtow who I’ve absolutely admired and adored in the last eight years. This is a third revival of the Mae Naak opera, and everytime it’s an energized and beau-tiful portrayal so I’m very honored to be presenting the main character. It’s always beautiful music. Amthai: So, you did act for Mae Naak opera in Thailand before?Nancy: Yes, we did two perfor-mances in July this year, same production and same team of people. Just like warming up before coming to London.Amthai: How long does it take you to build the character?Nancy: I have looked at the music and a bit of the background and did some research.Amthai: How many years experi-ence do you have in the theatre?Nancy: I have been in theatre for 20 years. I’m still in good form and enjoy myself.
Amthai: What’s next year? Any roles to perform in the next project?Nancy: I’m doing another part called Song Jing Ling, the story is about Dr.Sun Yat-sen, the revolutionary in the next month in Hong Kong. It’s the world premier of the opera calledDr.Sun Yat-sen. Amthai: You’re Korean. How do you feel about playing the role of a Thai character?Kyu: This is the third for this production. My first time was in 2005.Amthai: How do you get to know about the Thai character? Were there any difficulties you encountered?Kyu: No, because the story of Mae Naak is a traditional myth. And in Korea, we have similar stories, so I could relate to this story right away. And Mae Naak story is fascinating and it’s about love and overcoming death, so, I enjoy taking this role. I love playing this character (Maak- the hero).Amthai: How many years experience have you in the opera?Kyu: I started in 1999, so, it’s my 11th year for my professional career.Amthai: That why it looks very easy for you. So, what’s your next project?Kyu: For my next project, I’ll have a concert in Japan in November. ‘amthai’
