CHARACTERISTICS OF VERTEBRATES Highly developed brain.

Developed skeleton with bones and cartilage.

They have an advanced nervous system

They are adaptable , they can live: in land, sea and air.

They can move and they are heterotrophic (they can´t make their own food)

They have a respiratory system made with gills and lungs.

They have a protective celular, skin, fur, feathers and scales.

They have a bilateral symetry plan

They are only 2 % of all species.

Amphibian means living 2 lives: one in water and the other in land. They use gills when they live in the sea and lungs when they live on the land.They are cold-blooded .They don`t need as much food as warm-blooded animals.

First they breathe water through gills. Then they have developed lungs. They can have toxic skin and some can bite: they don`t have nails. They have short front limbs and long hind limbs.

With five webbed digits.

Smooth, moist and sometimes sticky skin. Soft gel surrounding their eggs.

Normally found in water or in damp places. They have external fertilizacion.
