CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
ABOUT CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
• The circulatory system is also known as the cardiovascular system. It is made up of the heart and the blood vessels or arteries and veins. It is the process in which blood flows through the body in order to circulate oxygen to the tissues and organs. It is a massive system. In fact, if you were to take all of the veins and arteries of an adult human and stretched them out, it would stretch for approximately 60,000 miles!
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Circulatory system is made up of three main things they are :-HeartBlood VesselsBlood
HEART• Headquarters, or control center of the circulatory system is the heart. The heart is a muscle. It is approximately the size of a fist and it is located slightly to the left of the middle of the chest. The heart acts like a pump .
• The heart is divided into four main chambers•The upper two chambers are – Right atrium and Left atrium•The lower two chambers are – Right ventricle Left ventricle
TYPES OF BLOOD VESSELS•There are two types of
blood vessels are:-•Arteries•veins
ARTERIES• Arteries take blood away from the heart to the body
organs and tissues. The artery wall is thick and muscular so it can withstand the high pressure of the blood being pumped directly from the heart . • Arteries carry oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery.
VEINS• Veins are blood vessels that carry blood toward the heart. Most veins carry deoxygenated blood from the tissues back to the heart; except pulmonary . It carry oxygenated blood to the heart. In contrast to veins, arteries carry blood away from the heart.• Veins are less muscular than arteries and are often closer to the skin. There are valves in most veins to prevent backflow.• Veins are present throughout the body as tubes that carry blood back to the heart.
CAPILLARIES• Capillaries are tiny, thin-walled vessels which
form a network to take blood through the organs and tissues .
BLOOD• Blood is a body fluid in humans and other animals that
delivers necessary substances such as nutrients and oxygen to the cells and transports metabolic waste products away from those same cells.
TYPES OF BLOOD
•Three are two parts of blood :-•Solid part•Fluid part
SOLID PARTS IN BLOOD
• Red blood cells•White blood cells
RED BLOOD CELLS• Red blood cells carry oxygen to every cell in the body. This
makes up the bulk of blood.
WHITE BLOOD CELLS
• White blood cells help to fight and then destroy pathogens. White blood cells also carry and release antibodies to help the body fight bacteria and other foreign invaders.
FLUID PARTS IN BLOOD
• PLASMA
BLOOD PLASMA• Plasma is the fluid in the body which is a mixture of
water, minerals, nutrients, sugars, proteins and other substances.
