In order to get wealthier cities in à healthy world we have toReduce fossil consumption, reduce transport and reduce corruption Improve work/living by water- better food + control of waste
Sustainability is since Al Gore related to climatechange CO2 and especially to (fossil) energy.Water, food, space, biodiversity are at leastas important > “ Preventing entropy”.
Energy in fact , in the sunny Middle East and Africa is not the problem. There is plenty solarenergy for energyand even for cooling. Water is the problem!
Amman is a city that developped in no time from a nomad settlement at the edge of an fertile area to a metropolitain city attempting more and more anagraricultural and ecological important landscape.
Bij het toevoegen van een verdieping aan een blok met een diepte van 10 meter verdubbelt de FSI bijna. immers de verdubbeling van de straatbreedte vergroot het terrein > verlaagt de GSI en reduceert daarmee de FSI met ca 20%
economic, social and cultural changes that have the city as an engine of these changes, Increasingly drive cities an attractive and sustainable alternative to the massively overgrown suburban 'landscape'
Because of earth, prosperity, welfare and environmental wealth intensifying the quality of our cities is desirable.
The urgency of an enduringing attractive city to make peoplebecome happier sand to gain a public landscape is evident.
1-Sustainability : quality of lifeAs an architect, I am interested in quality of life by quality of spaceAs a civilian or urban nomadI wish cities to be healthy places with a wealth of food and knowledge (without corruption) so chances to devellop yourself as a fellowcivillian in coexperience with other peopleCollective freedom, integrity and equalityThat’s why I, as an architect, hope to contribute to cities full of spaceThat’s why I believe in sustainabilityThat’s why I think that food, and doesnt that mean water, éducation and work is perhaps even more important then our aim for renewableenergy. Blue gold more important then black gold. Up to now water delivered diversity of life (soil/fertile ground) and oil to muchinequality (polluted air)In order to get wealthier cities in a healthy world we have toreduce fossil consumption, reduce transport and reduce corruption/speculation (ground)Improve work and living by better- food- communication-culture and intelligence/knowledge
2-urgency to analise, monitor and control urban sprawl > distribution of agri/city-cultureAs more people move to cities and steadily live in larger spaces, cities are expanding. Most of time they extend occupying fertile land which originally formed their original basis.Thats why we should invest in cities full of space, thats to say densely used land, providing people acces and proximity to chances, whilemaximising the ecosphere.
3-Distribution of mass/capacity + void/space on different levelsI would advocate here a mix of sky and groundscrapersGroundscrapers like corals and vertical farming.‘Cities full of space’ that enhance and emphasize :Water, parks and vertical farming together with a rich and great capacity to house people and their activities + institutions in à way thatthey are closely related to each other without feeling stressed or compressed.
4-laws of density: the dynamics of footprintmanagement and stacking
5- Low rise high density: a promising option for cities
6 atractive cities: distribution and proximity of qualities
At the TUD we studied intensity in capacity and quality > 1. as urban plans easily lose much of their density if you zoom out, the issue of areal density and scale of the area is crucialdefragmentation of footprint2 we develloped laws of density fundamental - Urban fabrics and light- scale and - excersizing lowrisehighdensity - quality=diversity.
