2012 Election
Election Day is November 6, 2012. If you can’t make it to your voting station, be sure to file for a vote-by-mail ballot. I don’t get to chat with you enough, so I’m introducing a new column in our newsletter to express my apprecia-tion and provide information to our clients, volunteers and supporters. Feel free to call or email me any time if you have any questions, suggestions or praise! I’m sure you already know that MOWW recently changed food caterers due to a cost increase and meal reduction from our previous supplier. The extensive coverage in the local press emphasized that the situation came up quickly. I am committed to providing clients with two full meals a day delivered fresh by a smiling volunteer at an affordable cost. MOWW staff and Board searched for the best options taking into consideration cost, food quality and reliability.
Thank you to all our clients and volunteers for their pa-tience and understanding during this transition time. Not only have we been dealing with the new caterer, whose van is a little too big to pull into the back staging area, we’ve also been dealing with construction at the office. The construction has made it more difficult for volunteers to organize and load their meals to quickly set out on routes. (We didn’t even have bathrooms for a while!) Our volunteers rock, and everyone has been amazing!
So far, the transition is going well, but please let me know if you have any suggestions on how it can go even better. On behalf of everyone at MOWW, your patience and support is greatly appreciated!
Friday, September 14th is the free Palisades Senior Mix-er at Palisades Recreation Center from 12pm – 3pm. The event will feature refreshments, live music, prizes, health information, a video story booth, free glasses adjustments and fun interactive activities. This is the kick-off event for the Pali Senior Club, which will meet the second Friday of every month hereafter. You get to choose the activities for the upcoming Club gatherings.

Laughter Really Is The Best Medicine
We don’t stop laughing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop laughing.
Three retirees, each with hearing loss, were walking together one beautiful fall day. One remarked to the other, “Windy, isn’t it?” “No,” the second man replied, “It’s Thursday.” And the third man chimed in, “So am I. Let’s have a Coke.”
An elderly woman from Brooklyn decided to prepare her will and make her final requests. She told her lawyer she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Bloo-mindales. “Bloomingdales!” the lawyer exclaimed. “Why Bloomingdales?” “Then I’ll be sure my daughters visit me at least twice a week.”
We don’t feel sorry for you blowing out all those candles, what about us…we had to stay up all night lighting them!
