The concert also brings to light how similar Americans are to the rest of the world. Wyand created this show in hopes of strengthening the ties between the U.S. and other cultures through musical exchange.

Ruth has toured throughout the US, UK, New Zealand, Kuwait and France as a solo guitarist and singer. She has won numerous awards for guitar and songwriting, including The Gamble Rogers Fingerstyle Guitar Competition,Hank Williams Songwriting, Florida Songwriting Competition. In addition to being a spirited performer, Ruth is alsoskilled educator. She owns and operatesher own music school in Kitty Hawk, NCwhere she teaches guitar, voice, song writing and music theory. She holds a degree in Music Theory and Composition from Stockton College of NJ.

The program is comprised of segments that focus on people who have held a prominent place in the pantheon of American musicaland cultural history from Steven Foster,Bessie Smith and Bob Dylan. In addition to performing musical renditions fromeach historical era, Wyand injects humorous anecdotes and other storiesof the singers, songwriters, and musicianswho have made up America’s musicaltapestry. During each section Wyandperforms a composition of various artistswhile visually displaying the artists’ portraits, performance photos, and other visually appealing artifacts of their time. The significance of each artist is brought to life through the lens of each era.

The program is produced and presentedby Ruth Wyand. All photos are being usedfor educational purposes and will not bepublished or broadcast in any manner. The show is designed to be presentedin a variety of venues from a 50 to 1000seat Community theaters, universities,schools and libraries. It is a very easy setup, Ruth provides the projector, laptop andinstruments. In addition to the AmericanMusic Journey she also provides adult guitarand songwriting Master Classes and aChildren’s songwriting class..
Students from Te Ropu Aroha ki te Reo – (Raglan AreaSchools Total Immersion unit) had the privilege of
spending 2 hours with American Blues Singer/Guitarist Ruth Wyand. The day started with her own powhiri
by the students and then she showed off her stuff -Folk, Jazz, Blues, and her own acousitc version of
Jimmy Hendrix. A few tips were given to the students and then they had a chance to share their stuff.

Ruth Wyand in Kuwait Award-winning singer, guitarist and song writer Ruth Wyand visited Kuwait March 31 – April 6 as part of the U.S.Embassy’s continued efforts to strengthen ties between Kuwaitisand Americans through musical, cultural and educational programs.
It was through playing music by the likes of Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday, along with some of her own material, andby describing the evolution of American music beginning with Civil War Era and ending with the protest music coming out of Americaat the turn of the 21st century, that Wyand was able to reveal America’s rich musical heritage to the Kuwaiti public.
Wyand performed for over 500young people at the Gulf Universityfor Science and Technology and theAmerican University of Kuwait,as well as for over 100 very enthusiastic children at the KuwaitiBilingual School in Jahra.
