Richard Cadbury, of England’s famous family of chocolate makers, began packaging their sweets in decorated boxes shaped like a heart, which Cadbury himself designed. The artful containers were often saved to hold keepsakes. Today, 36 million heart- shaped boxes of candy are sold each year for Valentine’s Day. VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION! Join us February 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a cocktail party and dance celebrating Valentine’s Day. Enjoy music and dancing with live entertainment and delicious hors d’oeuvres. • Chocolate is a great source ofantioxidants, which have beenshown to reduce a person’s riskof developing cancer or heartdisease.
• Snickers is the No. 1 sellingchocolate bar in the world.
• Eating dark chocolate inmoderation can lower a person’scholesterol levels.
• Americans prefer milk chocolateover dark chocolate; however, theconsumption of dark chocolate isincreasing. Try to eat darkchocolate containing at least 40percent cacao (will be stated onthe chocolate candy wrapper) forthe most health benefits.
• The first United States chocolatefactory was built in 1765.
• The average American eats 12pounds of chocolate every year.
