CAUTION•Whenworkingneartheenginecompartment,becarefuloftheengineandotherhigh-temperatureparts.

-High-temperaturepartscancauseburns.• Donotroutethecableofthisproductovertheenginecompartment,especiallyiftheengineisrunning.

-Failuretofollowthisinstructioncouldresultinanaccidentbycatchingupthecableandclotheswiththebeltand pulley .

• Donotusethisproductinanextremelydustyenvironment.

• The LCD response time may be slow in a low temperature location .

- This phenomenon is attributed to the characteristics of the LCD and not a failure .

<Checkingbeforeuse>

• Inspectforadhesionofforeignmaterialstoorpinbreakageofeachconnectorofthisproductbeforeuse.

• Beforeconnectingthedatalinkcablebetweenthisproductandthevehicle-sidediagnosticconnector,inspecttoseeifeachconnectoriscontaminatedwithforeignmaterialsortheconnectorpinsaredamaged.

• BeforeusingtheSDmemorycard,inspecttoseeifanyforeignmaterialsarestuckintheSDmemorycardslotorthecontactsurfaceoftheSDmemorycardiscontaminatedwithforeignmaterial.

<Handlingoftheproductandequipment>• Donotdropthistoolorsubjectittoastrongimpact.

•Whenconnectingthedatalinkcablebetweenthisproductandthevehicle-sidediagnosticconnector,ordisconnectingitfromthem,ensurecorrectorientationoftheconnectorandgentlyputitstraightin.

-Iftheconnectorisconnectedinthewrongorientation,orputinorpulledoutatthewrongangle,thereisariskofdamagingtheconnectorterminalandthismaycausemalfunctioningofthevehicleand/orthisproduct .

•WhenconnectingtheUSBcabletothisproductandaPC,ordisconnectingitfromthem,ensurecorrectorientationoftheconnectorandgentlyputitstraightin.

-Iftheconnectorisconnectedinthewrongorientation,orputinorpulledoutatthewrongangle,thereisariskofdamagingtheconnectorterminalandthismaycausemalfunctioningofthePCand/orthisproduct.

•WhenyoustartthisproductonlybyUSBpower(BUSpower),becarefulnottosetthePCto“lowpowerconsumptionmode”/“suspendmode”.

• TheUSBporttobeconnectedtothisproductrequiresapowersupplycapableofa500mAcurrent.• AsforconnectingthisproducttothePC,directlyconnectittotheUSBportonthePCorviaaUSBhubthathasthecapabilityofsupplyingsufficientcurrent.

-SometypesofUSBhubsmayhaveinsufficientpowersupplycapabilityfornormaloperation.(Forexample,ahubonPCkeyboardisnotsuitableforthisconnection.)

-Radiowavescouldaffecttheperformanceofpacemaker.• Donotusethisproductnearanautomaticcontroldevicesuchasanautomaticdoororafirealarm.

• Anantennaisbuiltintothisproduct.ThesensitivityofthewirelessLANcommunicationismaximizedwhennoobstaclesexistbetweentheconnectedwirelessLANdeviceandtheantennaofthisproduct.ThecommunicationdistancebecomesshortershouldtherebeobstaclesbetweentheantennaoftheconnectedwirelessLANdeviceandthe built-in antenna of this product .

• ThefollowingcircumstancescouldaffectthesensitivityofthewirelessLANcommunication.

Toresolvepoorcommunication,performthefollowingsteps:

-PlacethisproductasclosetoawirelessLANdeviceaspossible.

-KeepBluetoothequippeddevicesawayfromthisproductasmuchaspossible.

-Ifcommunicationdoesnotimprove,turnoffanyBluetoothequippeddevicesnearby.

• UsetheUSBcableformoredatacriticalsituationsoverthewirelessLANcommunication(wireless)duetothegreaterpossibilityofconnectionlossduringdatauploadordownloadofthedatatransmission.

• PleasenotethatweshallhavenoliabilityforanyinformationleakagefromthewirelessLANcommunication.

Connecting to a PC

To connect by USB communicationUse the USB cable and the USB spacer to connect this product to a PC .

CAUTION• Insert the USB spacer securely to the depth of the USB cable connector .

• ItisnecessarytoinstallthesoftwareonaPCbeforeconnectingtheUSBcabletoaPC.

1. Connect the PC side connector of the USB cable to the USB port of the PC .

2. Attach the USB spacer to the DST-i side connector of the USB cable .

3. ConnecttheDST-isideconnector(withtheUSBspacerattached)tothisproduct.

To connect by wireless LAN communicationTheseguidelinesexplainhowtoexecute necessarysettingsonaPCscreentousetheDST-iwirelessly,registertheDST-isettings,andconnecttowirelessLANcommunicationforNorthAmericanmodelsonly.PleaseconsultwithyourITprofessionalforsetupandpropernetworksetting.

Thefollowingtwotypesofcommunicationmodesaresupported.However,itisrecommendedtosetupcommunicationsthroughinfrastructuremode.

• Infrastructuremode-AllowscommunicationbetweenaPCandtheDST-iviaanaccesspoint(i.e.router). • Adhocmode-AllowsdirectcommunicationbetweenaPCandtheDST-i(peer-to-peer).

NOTE• AdhocModeforWindows8.1operatingsystemisnotastandardselection.ForWindows8.1users,pleaseconnectusinginfrastructuremodeorthroughtheUSBconnection.

YourPCmustbeequippedwithwirelessLANcapability(adapter)andforinfrastructuremodeanappropriateaccesspoint(wirelessLANrouter)isnecessarytoproperlyconnectthePCtotheVCI;pleaserefertoPCand/orrouteroperationmanual for proper setup .

OncenetworkconnectionisestablishedthroughWiFiorUSB,utilizethe“DST-iConnectionManager”onthePCtoestablish DST-i communication .

TheavailableDST-iunitswillappearonthePC:

FromtheavailableDST-i,selecttheappropriateserialnumber(S/NonthelabeladheredtothebackoftheDST-i)and“SetDefault”toallowautomaticconnectionforfutureinterface.

Oncecommunicationisestablished,execute the HDS application . Please refer to the DST-i Wireless LAN Connection Set-upInstructionsforfurtherdetailsonwirelessPCsettings.

NOTE• Connection by wireless LAN communication is only possible on a model with wireless LAN .

•WhenwirelessLANcommunicationwiththePCisestablished,thePCcommunication(wirelessLAN)indicatoronthisproductflashesblue.

•WhenconnectingviabothLANcommunicationandUSBcommunication,theUSBconnectiontakespriority.

When connecting both the datalink cable and the USB cable at the same timeUse the USB cable and the USB spacer to connect this product to a PC .

1. Loosen the screw on left side of the datalink cable .

2. Attach the USB cable lock to the USB cable .

3. Connect the DST-i side connector to this product .

4. TightentheUSBcablelockwiththescrewonleftsideofthedatalinkcable.

CAUTION• Use an SD memory card or an SDHC memory card .

• ThisproductdoesnotsupportanSDXCmemorycard.

• UseanSDmemorycardlabeledwiththeSDlogomarkandconformingtotheSDstandard.ThefollowingbrandSDmemorycardsarerecommended:Panasonic,SanDiskandToshiba.

• Not all the SD memory cards are supported on this product .

Inserting an SD memory card

1. TurnthemodeswitchofthisproductOFF.

2. TurnthenotchofSDmemorycardtotherightandinsertgentlytotheslotenduntilaclickingnoiseisheard.

NOTE• IfthenotchontheSDmemorycardsidefaceissettothe“Lock”position,datastorageanddeletionaredisabledbythewriteprotectfunction(writeinhibit).Makesuretounlockthewriteprotectfunctionbeforeuse.

Removing an SD memory card

1. TurnthemodeswitchofthisproductOFF.

2. PushtheSDmemorycardlightly.

3. TheSDmemorycardisejectedalittle.Pullitoutgently.
