Ligatures
Creating ligatures was a fun and interesting concept. We were playing with type as well as learning the characteristics of one font to the the next. Not only did we develop a deeper understanding of type we were also creating an identity with our own initials. I experimented with various fonts and
familys eventually I found that I liked how my initials looked in Futura. I tried various ways to bring my initials together while also show the individual letter and before I knew it my ligature had taken a charming form.

The stationary was one of my favorite projects during the semester which was surprisig to me because I didn’t assume I’d like designing stationary. When we were given the option to pick out ligatures or our icons I felt inspired more by my ligature than my icon. I thought I could further develop the identity of my ligature and even create a look I’d like to represent me. When I began working I had just
been aiming for consistancy, for all the pieces to flow and look like it belonged together for my stationary. As it began to come to finalization I felt like the items could really be something I could use in the future. I also designed 3 branded items that I also printed and build which was a lot more fun than I thought it’d be. I felt everything looked like real items I could use for business.

Icon
Amber PerezCOMD 1200 D150
Creating icons was at first a daunting task. Given that we had to sketch 77 different designs it seemed impossible to fill the entire sheet. I didn’t think I could come up with 77 different designs for the word plate but as I went row by row I began to realize there was actually a lot I could do with it. My designs ranged from
simple to a bit more detailed to even a bit obscure but the icons were icons and I had to think about how they would look in varying small sizes. As I digitalized my icon it went through different stages and I learned that size could really influence the way an image looks.

The iceberg selfie was enjoyable to do because I not only got my work done but I got to enjoy the view of the Highline. The IAC building was a wonderful sight and
the Highline is beautiful. I was able to take several photos of the building and High-line on the side as well to enjoy.

Artist Posters
The concept behind our posters was creating a poster for an album while only using one color and black. This turned up being one of my favorite of our projects because I was able to work on something that involved a favorite artist of mine and I felt I had a lot of inspiration for this. As I was working on the postsers I came
to realize I tend to create subtle designs which I felt was ideal for the assignment. I tried different approaches but I was not satisfied with them. I wanted to get my message across focusing on readibilty; what the album was and by who, while also trying to capture the album itself.
