My thesis will explore the concept of collage...I am interested in the effects and new meanings that can result from taking things apart and putting them back together in unexpected ways.

My approach is to create an online outfit generator where one could upload photographs of pieces of clothing from their own wardrobe. The site would then create a database of every item of clothing uploaded and could then create outfits using these pieces. By automating and randomizing the process of choosing an outfit to wear, a new outlook on one’s own wardrobe, and the clothing combinations possible, could be achieved.

I started out by doing several collages by hand, as well as by using the website Polvore. These turned out to be exercises in exploring the visual aspects of collage and different ways they can be created.
