One of the sasfyingly pleasant things about living in Alyangula is that the students and parents are all very concerned about, and supporve of people whose needs are greater than theirs. Not everyone is as lucky as most of us. 5/6R have been fundraising during the later half of this term by making and selling traffic light icy cups (yes, that’s why they have come home from school with green, orange and red mouths). Aſter a discussion about what to do with the profits they decided to put the proceeds to the epilepsy cause. 5/6R fundraising has been an exercise around learning about economics. Pung this into a praccal project has enabled students to understand that there is a lot of thought, planning and maths that goes into starng a business. I’m sure they will be much more aware of this the next me they go shopping. We have a break from formal educaon for a week and this doesn’t mean that learning stops. Parents, please encourage your child to play, run, climb, swim, cook, talk, read, ask, tell, share, throw, argue and persuade. Nicely, of course. Have a safe and happy break, see you in term two. On Friday this week we will come together to raise awareness of, and a donation toward finding support for people with epilepsy. One of the satisfyingly pleasant things about living in Alyangula is that the students and parents are all very concerned about, and supportive of people whose needs are greater than theirs. Not everyone is as lucky as most of us. 5/6R have been fundraising during the later half of this term by making and selling traffic light icy cups (yes, that’s why they have come home from school with green, orange and red mouths). After a discussion about what to do with the profits they decided to put the proceeds to the epilepsy cause. 5/6R fundraising has been an exercise around learning about economics. Putting this into a practical project has enabled students to understand that there is a lot of thought, planning and maths that goes into starting a business. I’m sure they will be much more aware of this the next time they go shopping. We have a break from formal education for a week and this doesn’t mean that learning stops. Parents, please encourage your child to play, run, climb, swim, cook, talk, read, ask, tell, share, throw, argue and persuade. Nicely, of course. Have a safe and happy break, see you in term two.

Friday June 3rd All students have received a Sponsorship Form where the money collected is to be noted. In the Sponsorship Form you will find many other benefits such as the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tablet every week (42 to give away)! Students who raise just $10 or more will receive a reward for effort. Please educate students on the dangers of door knocking without adult supervision. The best people to ask for sponsorship are people you know (e.g. friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours).
Online Fundraising The easiest way to help your child raise money is through online fundraising. Students raise an average of $103.38 using online fundraising, which really benefits all involved; plus you don’t have to worry about handling money! To set up an online student profile please visit: schoolfunrun.com.au/students.
