It has been achieved an excellent result all these years. A separate professional department has been established with the introduction of ACCA-UK and CMA-US program for the academic year 2019-2020. The department has actively initiated students focused programmes like Entrepreneurship Training, Farm Training, and Short-Term Courses. The different clubs in department such as Writers Club, Speakers Club, Research Club, Photography Club, Anchoring, and Talents Club are continuously giving supportive programmes throughout the year for active participation of students. Orientation Programmes During the beginning of the academic year 2019-20, the department has organised orientation programme on Indian courses such as CA and CS as well as on foreign courses such as ACCA-UK and CMA-US. The students get benefited by looking at the courses in detail and got clear guidelines on the courses. The orientation on, “ACCA Programme” has been organised on 02-07-2019. During this orientation Rohan Rajavamshi, who is the Manager of ACCA-U.K. South India region was chief guest and spoke on “The Scope for ACCA-U.K. Programme in India”. C.A. Jai Goel, proprietor of CFO Next Bangalore & Don Andrew who is the proprietor of Future Vision Mangalore present during the programme. The major benefits, job opportunities in India and abroad to the students by opting ACCA-UK was discussed during the orientation.

About Department

The orientation on, “CS Programme” has been organised on 22-08-2019. During this
orientation Santhosh Prabhu, who is CS Counsellor of Mangalore Chapter, was chief guest
and spoke on “The Opportunities for CS Programme in India”. Shankar B, incharge of
Mangalore Chapter was present during the programme. The students got knowledge on
preparation for the company secretary course, about their syllabus pattern, how to crack the
exams and job opportunities after the completion of course.
The orientation on, “CA-Foundation and CA-Intermediate Programme” has been organised
by Alva’s College and Mangalore Branch of SICASA of ICAI on 28-08-2019. During this
orientation CA Prasanna Shenoy, Chairman of SICASA Mangalore, CA Anwesh Shetty,
ACA Mangalore, were chief guests and spoke on “The Competitive environment of CA
Programme at Present”. Mr. Darshan Poojari, Vice Chairman of SICASA, Mangalore and
Ms. Pragathi Shetty, Member of SICASA, Mangaluru, were present during the programme.
The students got knowledge on preparing for the exams on foundation level, intermediate and
final. They are guided on right attitude towards completion of CA, tips to face the tough
competition and general queries on CA exams.
Memorandum of Understanding
The MOU signing for ACCA-UK and CMA-US
courses took place in between Department of
Commerce-Professional of Alva’s College and CFO
Next Bangalore as well as ACCA-UK course. The
parties signed for MOU are for Alva’s College it’s
by Dr. M. Mohan Alva, the chairman of AEF and Jai
Goel, proprietor of CFO Next Bangalore & Don
Andrew proprietor of Future Vision Mangalore on
02-07-2019. The MOU covers some of the benefits
like professional education to the global standards
and encourage students in trainings and teachings on
foreign courses such as ACCA-UK and CMA-US.
The MOU signing for CA course took place in
between Department of Commerce-Professional of
Alva’s College and CA Anwesh Shetty &
Associates, Mangalore. The parties signed for MOU
are for Alva’s College it’s by Dr. Kurian, Principal
of Alva’s College and CA Anwesh Shetty &
Associates, Mangalore on 01-02-2020. The MOU
focused on providing internship programme, scope
for articleship, classroom training and knowledge
sharing by CA experts.
The inter-departmental MOU signed between
Department of Commerce-Professional of Alva’s
College and Department of Post Graduate studies
in Journalism and Mass Communication. The
parties signed for MOU are for Department of
JMC by Mr. Shrinivasa Pejataya and for
Department of Commerce-Professional by Mr.
Ashoka K. G. on 11-11-2019.
The purpose of inter-departmental MOU is to
carry academic exchange between both the
departments which benefit the students in their career and provide skill development. The
MOU focused on providing certificate/short term courses during vacation and scope for a
faculty exchange programs.
Short Term Certificate Courses:
The department of Commerce-Professional and department of JMC had organized short term
certificate courses from 04-12-2019 to 07-12-2019. The students are trained in four different
areas other than Commerce field. Graphic Designing, Advanced Digital Photography, Anchoring,
Digital Marketing short term courses were conducted. The students got benefited in learning different
skills in all these areas. 11 students were trained in Anchoring, 23 students were trained Digital
Marketing, 29 students learned Advanced Digital Photography and 21 students learned Graphic
Designing, where 84 students in total trained during vacation.
Field Training
The department of Commerce Professional has been organized the vacation training on
“Farm training & learning” on 09-12-2019 at Shringashamala nature village. Mr. Vishwas
Bharadwaj who guided about variety of plants, flowers, farming techniques, cultivations and
ideas of cultivations, and on 10-12-2019 Mr. Rohith Rosario who guided about oil mill and
how the oil has been extracted, benefits of coconut coir, coconut shell at Kuppepadavu. They
also gave the information about poultry farming, cattle forming, and fishery.
Short Term Training
The department of Commerce Professional and department of JMC has been organized
Entrepreneurship training on 04-12-2019 to 07-12-2019. On 04-12-1-2019,in
entrepreneurship training, the resource person Mr. James who guided Opportunity seeking,
Demand for quality, Risk taking, Goal setting, Information seeking, Planning, Monitoring.
On 05-12-2019 Mr. Karunakar K., Rudset Bhramhavara, who guided about the risk taking
and techniques or skills used to complete task. Smt. Usha Kamath guided about finance,
insurance scheme, policies and banking exams. On 06-12-2019 Mrs. Anusuysa who guided
about business opportunity. On 07-12-2019 Mr. James conducted activity based learning.
Terres Gardening
Three students of B.Com - Professional named Anirudh, Ananthesh P and Sheikh Mohmmed
Naazil visited terres gardening training at Mangalore which was guided by Mr. Vikram of
Arunya Foundation. The students have taken this project as a study on “Terres Gardening”.
