Alumni Spotlight JACQUELINE AGUILAR ('02) Please explain your career – title, daily responsibilities, what you like about your job… I was admitted to the New York bar in 2011 and I have been an attorney ever since. Currently, I am a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern NY. I am the intake attorney, which means that I answer questions people have and give legal advice. The topics can be anything from family law to housing questions to welfare questions. Before this job, I worked for Catholic Charities Community Services of NY as an immigration attorney for the Unaccompanied Minors Program. For that position, I worked with children who were designated as an "Unaccompanied Child" and would help them navigate the legal system and represent them throughout their legal case. I have always gravitated towards public interests jobs and I am grateful to be able to pursue my career. Earned J.D. from New York Law School in 2010 Staff Attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern NY How did Holy Trinity help prepare you for life after graduation? HT taught me the value of hard work. I remember going to college feeling very prepared for that journey and it extended to my career. I was able to tackle anything I put my mind to because of the lessons and values that I learned at Holy Trinity. Who at HT influenced you in a positive way? How did that person help you grow? Almost all of my great memories were from Band and having Mr. Jones as my teacher. I learned to truly appreciate music with him and became a better musician because of him. There were my English teachers, Mr. Lemos and Mr. Chorusey. I loved to read from an early age, but they opened my eyes to interpreting literature. Also, I can't watch TV shows or movies without thinking about the hero cycle and how it fits into the bigger picture (thank you, Mr. Chorusey). I had the pleasure of having Ms. Pellett for both for Yearbook Club and Calculus. She was patient, nice, and really supportive.
