Chicago Alumni Network Scholarship Banquet
2nd Year Scholarship Banquet
Six-thirty hit in Chicago, Illinois at the Mayfield Banquet
facility and 300 people overwhelmed the banquet floors. Out of
those 300 people, 200 Chicago-land brothers filled the room.
Brothers such as Founding Father Baltazar Mendoza were in
attendance
for this outstanding event. The most valuable thing that was
encountered was the massive amounts of brothers stemming back to
1986. Founders from the state of Indiana were present and iconic
figures that have helped our organization in the state of
Illinois
and nationally were also present to honor our principles.
Scholarship is an important factor within our organizations
beliefs and on Saturday, March 21st, 200 brothers came together to
celebrate our values, our ideals, and our organization. This great
night started with a Mariachi ensemble. It later ended with a
fundraising activity, which raised over $5,000.00 in the span of
15 minutes. Lastly, CAN acknowledged all of their loyal
sponsors.
The Chicago-land brothers emulate what Sigma Lambda Beta stands
for. This banquet is a great event that the Chicago Alumni Network
has successfully executed. This night was a fun-filled night, which
highlighted our past, our present, and our future.

Membership in Sigma Lambda Beta does not end after your
collegiate career. Alumni are an integral part in the development
of our collegiate members, as well as general support for our
Fraternity. Alumni Brothers are a testament to the success of Sigma
Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Incorporated. Additionally,
Alumni play an increasingly crucial role in our future success.
Active alumni serve as entity advisors, communicate important
career related information and are often mentors to Brothers as
well as contribute annually to the Sigma Lambda Beta Education
Foundation, which provides scholarships to Brothers. As an Alumnus,
there are hundreds of ways to continue living our values, serving
the community and sharing our culture. We, the Brothers of the
Tampa Bay and surrounding area of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity,
Incorporated, recognize the need to promote the ideals of
brotherhood, scholarship, service and cultural awareness beyond our
collegiate years and into adulthood and have therefore, established
the Tampa Bay Alumni Network to fulfill this purpose. In accordance
with our National Constitution and guidelines, we see a need for
the preservation and advancement of all men and believe that
adherence to excellence, moral, ethical, and educational standards
is the instrument best fitted to promote our community. In
governing our actions, we have adopted the following by-laws.
Mission Statement: The Tampa Bay Alumni Network promotes
brotherhood, professional networking, encourages career,
educational, and personal development through stellar programming
that encompass our 3 pillars of mind, body and spirit. Further to
realize our mission, the Network shall further promote the
Fraternitys four principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, Community
Service, and Cultural Awareness, and is committed to apply these
principles in our daily lives and for the betterment of the
communities from which we hail. Overview: The TBAN is a group of
SLB alumni who remain committed to the values and brotherhood bonds
formed during our undergraduate years. We currently have members
whose professional careers and personal achievements span across a
wide variety of interests in the Tampa Bay area. The Network
strives a to create an environment for SLB alumni to enhance their
skills personally and professionally, foster and guide fellow
brothers, network with other alumni and professional organizations,
and most importantly, maintain our ties and commitment to Sigma
Lambda Beta. Past events TBAN have conducted a series of workshops
entitled what is your motivation in which we focus on alumni
brothers who are professionals along with non-brothers
professionals that work in certain area and talk about certain
topics. The first one workshop

spoke about how they went about opening and pursing their business
and what motivated them to continue. The second one we had was
about finance; we had a few brothers that are in the finance
business talk about 401k, budgets and savings. We also have
assisted the local Psi chapter with the 20th anniversary
celebration that took place in Jan 2015. Upcoming events: April 18

No matter where we stand politically, we accept our warriors and
veterans with open arms and open hearts.
One only has to talk to the veterans of previous wars and
conflicts to get a glimpse that the profound effects of war
never really leave.
The mission for Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover all our
warriors and veterans who have been touched by war
with our healing and comforting Quilts of Valor.
Quilts of Valor: First introduced at BetaCon 2014 in St. Louis,
Missouri. Now this foundation has touched all our brothers across
the country that has served in the military.
We would like to continuously extend our gratitude to these
alumni that have given of their life and sacrifice for
our freedom.
From all the alumni across the country THANK YOU!
