y IAFSA Executive Director to retire; New Director Appointed During the 2013 Annual Meeting IAFSA President Kelly Raymond '07 announced that, after 25 years of service, our Executive Director, Marilyn Booth Manzella '69, has decided to retire as of September 1, 2013. The Board has appointed her assistant, Debra Regan Cleveland '73, to succeed her on that date. "We anticipate a smooth transition and the continuation of operations as usual. Debbie is someone who has demonstrated skills and endorsed the tradition of service that is a hallmark of our organization. We have every confidence in Debbie's commitment and capability to carry our initiatives forward," said Kelly. Retired Framingham State Professor Dr. Previte was on hand to present the Dr. Joseph Previte Pre- Professional Medical Studies Award to Krysten Goulski '13. Second Annual Touch the Future Award given to longtime FSU Education Professor Debbie Regan Cleveland '73, presented the second annual Touch the Future Award to Dr. Diane Lowe at the Annual Meeting. Dr. Lowe's name was added to a perpetual plaque displayed at Alumni House. She also received a check for children's books for her undergraduate and graduate literary classes. The Independent Association of Framingham State Alumni is a non- profit, membership organization that was established in 1874 and has a long tradition of service to its members and the students at Framingham State University. The Association administers scholarship and benevolent funds, maintains Alumni House, and stays in touch with thousands of members across the country. Seeking an assistant who is available for a part-time, hourly position who has office skills and a willingness to learn and share duties in a pleasant, two-person, office setting. IAFSA Job Opportunity
Position: Assistant to the Director, reporting to the Executive Director
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., totaling an average of 25 hours per week (with some flexibility)
Rate: $15.00/hour to start
Duties: Assistant will perform a variety of office assignments including correspondence, filing, organizing, gift processing, writing,data entry, marketing, event planning, and research, for example.
Required qualifications:
Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation programs
Aptitude for learning new applications ~ A willingness to perform duties as needed.
Preferred qualifications:
Degree from Framingham State College or Framingham State University ~ Non-profit experience, including fundraising
Financial experience, including bookkeeping, investments, and budgeting.
