The 2021 Alpine Angus Autumn Bull Sale offering 100 HBR & APR Bulls will be held at the Alpine Sales Complex, Rosewhite on Wednesday 10 March at 1 pm. On the Labour Day weekend on Monday 8 March 2021 a second sale preview will be held just 2 days before the sale. Once again all sale bulls will be yarded from 10am–4pm with a delicious beef lunch and refreshments available. This affords those who cannot be there sale day to make their selections and either bid themselves online via AuctionsPlus or via their agent or by arrangement with Alpine’s Sale Agents Dan Ivone Paull & Scollard, Myrtleford or Mick Curtis Rodwells, Euroa. For many years now the Alpine Angus program has been consistently investing in genetics we believe puts extra dollars into our client’s pockets. This is in recognition of the fact that it is the number of live calves and the KG of Beef produced per HA that are the 2 key profit drivers for beef producers in Southern Australia. Alpine use Breedplan as a selection tool but also put as great an emphasis on phenotype, good temperament and structure. The aim is to breed calving ease together with length, capacity and growth into our cow herd – from this program the right Bulls will naturally flow. The Alpine Autumn Bull Sale line up reflects the Alpine breeding philosophy so well with sons of AI Star Sire Baldridge Beast Mode B074 with stellar EBVs and Indexes alongside the outstanding phenotype expressed by Sons of Sires Karoo Knockout K176, Coonamble Leader L325, Alpine Muzza M245. The market and seasonal conditions of the last year have seen record prices for our clients in the sale yards. We look forward to seeing more of the same for our clients at the Mountain Calf Sales and the Myrtleford Calf Sale which occur in the week prior to the Alpine Autumn Bull Sale. The prospect of strong prices and plenty of grass should encourage beef producers to invest in the best genetics. The comprehensive Alpine QA program is designed to give clients confidence all steps have been taken to ensure the Alpine Bulls leave here ready and able to work. Our sale bulls have undergone a rigorous health and selection process. All are tested PI-free and vaccinated for Lepto, Vibrio and Pesti. They have been DNA sire verified, independently semen tested and structurally assessed. We have a three year guarantee program with an emphasis on ensuring adequate protection should first year break-downs occur. This is all backed by a can do approach and willingness to work in with clients should problems arise. All in all we try our very best so that prospective purchasers can have confidence Alpine Angus will have your back and do all we can to ensure your success! Paull & Scollard Stock Agent Dan Ivone, “Paull & Scollard’s Myrtleford sale 17 December last year saw excellent lines of Alpine bred cattle presented in forward condition. This highlights not only the season but also the strength of genetics used to achieve the weight, finish and evenness the Alpine calves displayed and the prices they achieved. Sales in January see the very strong market conditions continue.”
Paull & Scollard clients Chris and Jenny Dalbosco were delighted with the pen of steers they sold at the December sale – averaging 407 kg they returned $1,820/head.
Runner-up MSA 2019 Meat Standards Australia (MSA) Excellence in Eating Quality Awards for Victoria, Backgrounder Mick Pun who has sourced Alpine calves for several years at the Myrtleford Sale,“I always source a similar type of cattle – the Alpine genetics out performed others I sourced by over $100 a head – a difference I put down to the Alpine genetics as all were run under the same conditions.”
Long term Alpine client Marjory King, Euroa, was delighted with the sale at the December 2020 Euroa Sale of a pen of 16 maiden heifers joined to Alpine bulls for a whopping $3,150/head. When added to the pen of 16 steers Marjory also sold for $1,860/head it was a very good day at the office!
Alpine client Rick Webb also scored $1,770/head for a pen of 20 steers he presented at the same Euroa sale in December last year. Recently at the January sale in Euroa, Rick added to this the sale with another pen of 20 Black Baldy steers weighing 385 kg achieving $1,850 which equated to 480c/kg.
Another long term Alpine client Pulitano Pastoral Mansfield achieved 512c/kg for a well presented pen of 34 steers at the Wangaratta saleyards in December last year.
Chris Oswin Alpine Manager, “Many Alpine clients will be taking part in the Mountain Calf Sales and Myrtleford Calf Sale in the week leading up to the Labour Day long weekend and the Alpine Autumn Bull Sale on Wednesday 10 March. The near record market conditions should see them enjoy great prices! We wish them every success!”
