The Alpha Awards aspire to drive creativity, reward professionals and enthusiasts alike, and showcase the greatest photography work. In 2021, over 4900 stunning images were submitted by professional and amateur photographers, for the chance to be recognised for their talents. The shortlisted entries across the 12 categories, including the standalone youth competition, were carefully selected by 24 judges who are all acclaimed for their body of work. The Grand Prize winner will be selected from among the total pool of finalists by Scott Gray, CEO of the World Photography

Sony announces finalists for the 2021 Sony Alpha Awards, celebrating Australian and New Zealand photographers

The image was shot using the Alpha 7R IV and Full Frame E-Mount FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM lens SYDNEY AUSTRALIA, 15 JULY 2021 - Sony has announced the finalists of the sixth annual Sony Alpha Awards, recognising Australian and New Zealand photographers from amateur to professional, and the stunning imagery they captured on Sony Alpha cameras and lenses. The Alpha Awards aspire to drive creativity, reward professionals and enthusiasts alike, and showcase the greatest photography work.

In 2021, over 4900 stunning images were submitted by professional and amateur photographers, for the chance to be recognised for their talents.

The shortlisted entries across the 12 categories, including the standalone youth competition, were carefully selected by 24 judges who are all acclaimed for their body of work. The Grand Prize winner will be selected from among the total pool of finalists by Scott Gray, CEO of the World Photography

Organisation. Sony will give away over AUD $37,000 worth of Sony camera gear, with each category winner receiving AUD $2,000 worth of Sony gear and the Grand Prize Winner taking away AUD $10,000 worth of Sony camera gear.

In addition, the photographs of the category winners will be featured in an out-of-home advertising campaign across billboards, signage and point-of sale across Australia.

Scott Gray, CEO of the World Photography Organisation commented, "It has been such a pleasure to review the shortlisted entries in this year’s Sony Alpha Awards. Once again I am hugely impressed by the range of the work but also the commitment and versatility of the photographers."
