1 Get Familiar with the Accelerated Innovation Roadmap

The purpose of this exercise is to access and use the content delivered by the Accelerated Innovation Roadmap in SAP Solution Manager. First, log onto the training system M43 with the following information: System: M43 User: ALM167-xx (where xx is your student number) Password: TechEd10 Once you have successfully logged onto the system, select the Solution Manager Work Centers link in your

user menu: . This link takes you to transaction code SOLMAN_WORKCENTER. Logon again if prompted to do so. You are now in the SAP Solution Manager Work Centers.

Select the Implementation / Upgrade tab: You are now in the Implementation / Upgrade Work Center.

  • 3

For this exercise, we wish to view a Roadmap. To do so, access the Plan area of the Navigation Panel on the

left side of the screen: You are now in the Plan area of the work center.

  • 4

Now, select the Show Roadmaps link under the header Roadmap. When prompted for a project selection, please use the project that corresponds to your workstation. (ALM167_XX with XX being the student ID) You should now see the Roadmap for Accelerated Innovation.

  • 5

Next, we will look at setting User-Specific settings.

From the menu at the top of the screen, select Settings. From the pull-down, select User-Specific.

You are now in the User-Specific area.

Here you can select which tabs of the roadmap you wish to view, or enter the roadmap via the Structure. Click on the button Roadmap and deselect all entries except Accelerators and Status.

  • 6

The purpose of this exercise is to navigate through this Roadmap. Click on the Deliverable Solution

Composition in the Requirements and Design Phase: You are automatically taken to the Solution Composition area of the Roadmap.

You can investigate other areas of the roadmap by clicking on other structures, and expanding nodes by clicking on the little twisty triangles. You can also see the associated content, such as URL links or documents, as seen in this example:

  • 7

Now, select Settings from the user menu again. Access the Filter option from the pull-down, and select Roles.

You will now see which Roles are available, and you can filter the roadmap accordingly.

Click the check box next to Program Management Office, this is the role we will use for this exercise.

  • 8

Select the Green Check button to save.

Now, use the Exit button to return to the full Roadmap view. You will see that the Roadmap is condensed to just the content relevant for the Program Management Role you selected.

    2 Document the Project Scope

The purpose of this exercise is to allow you to use the roadmap to scope your planned Business Blueprint and Business Function. From the top level of your filtered Roadmap, select Solution Composition again. Expand the Solution Composition structure by clicking on the twisty arrow, and then select the section Business Function Prediction. You should now be in the area shown below.

  • 9

Next, select the URL link for Business Function Prediction by double-clicking the text highlighted above. If you get a SAPGUI security prompt, select Always Allow and then OK to confirm. A new browser window will open, displaying the link. Please note that a valid SAP Service Marketplace user (S-user) is required. If you dont have your logon information available you should skip over this part.

  • 10

Try selecting other URL links in the structure to see the available information from SAP. For this example, we will mark this Roadmap structure as completed. Note the Status/Notices tab:

If you select this tab, you can mark this element as Open, Completed, In Process, or Error, and enter an explanation.

  • 11

Change the status to Completed. You will notice that a green check will appear in the Roadmap structure. Now mark all of the subnodes of the structure as Completed. You will see that the top node Solution Composition will automatically be marked as completed in both the structure, as well as the initial Roadmap view.

Based on the information, we can now adjust our Business Blueprint directly from the Roadmap. Navigate to the structure node Business Process Scenario Updates, and then the node Adjust Business Blueprint.

You will now see a transaction link. Double-click on the description text. After you select your assigned project, you will be in the Business Blueprint transaction (SOLAR01).

  • 12

Next, we will add some scenarios to the project. In the Business Blueprint structure on the left-hand side of the screen, select the node Business Scenarios. On the right side of the screen, select the Structure tab. Your screen should look like this:

In the Structure tab area, your Source should read Business Process Repository. This is where we will be bringing in scenario content from. In the Structure tab area, you see some empty fields under Scenario Name. Click an empty field and you will see a pull-down box appear.

The Business Process Repository will open and display a list of available scenarios.

  • 13

We would like to add some SAP HCM scenarios to our project. Expand the content for SAP ERP, and then expand the content for Human Capital Management Processes in ERP.

  • 14

Select the first node under HCM:

Confirm with the Green Check button. The scenario is now added to your project.

  • 15

Save to add the scenario to your project. This may take a few minutes. When the save is completed, you can expand the HCM scenario you added.

  • 16

3 Business Function, Technical Usages, Main Instances

The purpose of this exercise is to display available business functions and their status. As a result of new SAP Solution Manager development, a new tab, Business Functions, is visible in the project. To view the Business Functions, select a business process on the left, and navigate to this new tab on the right side of the screen. The business process Managing & Aligning Employee Performance has business function content.

You can find out more information on these functions by selecting the line as seen below, and then clicking

the Display Documentation button in the toolbar. .

  • 17

A new browser window will open with the information. If prompted with an SAP GUI security warning, select Always Allow.

  • 18

In addition to business content delivered in the SAP Solution Manager Business Process Repository, Business Function information can be manually added to the business blueprint structure. This Business Function Repository is delivered with the standard SAP Solution Manager Business content add-on, ST-ICO. From this area you can also browse and add business function content from the managed systems. In some cases, it may be necessary to add a dependant business function manually, based on the release information. Lets check if any dependant business functions exist for the function HCM_ESS_WDA_1. In the display documentation above, note that under Required Business Function, we see that for Concurrent Employment, an additional business function is dependant: HCM_CE_PT. We will need to manually add this dependant business function to the project. In addition, you can access the link http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp, navigate to the section SAP Enhancement Packages for SAP ERP SAP ERP Human Capital Management, and then browse for dependant information. In your project, in the Business Functions tab area, you will now add a new business function. To do this, start with a blank line and select a logical component, in this case SAP ERP EP SERVER VPACK SUCC. Under the Business Function column, you will see a pull-down box to select.

Once you select the pull-down, you will see an entry screen.

  • 19

While on the Managed System tab, enter the name of the dependant business function, HCM_CE_PT, and click the Search button. The search will find the function if it is available on the managed system. Select the function with the check box and then select the green check button to confirm.

Save the project. The dependant function is now added to the project.

  • 20

As before, you can display information on this new function.

Now we will take a detailed look at the status of the business functions. From the project menu, please select Environment Business Function Scope You are now in the Business Function Scope area.

  • 21

Expand the node SAP ERP EP SERVER VPACK SUCC.

Here you can see what HCM functions are in scope and their status. Exit the project and return to the Implementation / Upgrade Work Center. Return to the Roadmap as before and click on Business Process Scenario Updates again. Change the status of the structure Business Process Scenario Updates to Completed. Note that if you change the status of the top level node without maintaining the status of the sub-nodes, the system places the icon of a person to indicate that this was done directly by a user (and not automatically by the system as in the previous exercise.)

  • 22

Return to your Roadmap and set the status for all deliverables in the Install phase as Completed. Note that if you go back and set sub nodes as status Completed, you can re-set the status of the top node

with the Reset Status button. The system will set the top status automatically and remove the person icon from the structure.

  • 23

4 Configure Business Functions and Define Test Scope

In this exercise, we will examine configuration structures that are delivered to the SAP Solution Manager project after the business functions are activated.

    First, return to the Roadmap.

Under the phase Build, select Central Customizing.

Next, select the SAP Solution Manager: Configuration transaction (SOLAR02) under the Accelerator tab.

You are now in the Configuration transaction for your project.

  • 24

On the right side of the screen, select the big button Change Configuration Structure.

In the next screen, change the Source to Business Function Scope.

Select an empty field under the column Configuration Element. You will see a value help pull down. Select it.

You will see a possible entries list.

  • 25

Here you select what customizing you wish to generate for your project that was delivered with the activated business functions.

Note that the Configuration Element text box is a free text box this is where you type in your own title for the configuration element.

Enter the Configuration Element name, and select all business functions. Note that a Select All button is available here. Next, select the Generate (beach ball) button at the bottom of the screen to start the generation.

Save your project (this may take a few minutes.)

You can now browse the configuration structure and see what customizing links were delivered into your project. Note you must select the Configuration tab.

  • 26

Green-arrow back or press F3 to return to the full project structure in SOLAR02. You will see the new configuration links in the Configuration tab of the project. Keep this window open for the next exercise.

  • 27

5 Prepare Test Catalog and Assign Testers

The final exercise covers the examination of test cases delivered with the Business Functions. First, lets look at some of the test cases that were delivered. If you refer to the Roadmap, we are now in the Test and Validate phase.

The Roadmap contains links to test information and standards. In your project, access the business structure on the right hand side as follows. If you are in the main project structure you may need to select the node Configuration, and then the element you created in exercise 4. You should see the screen below. Select a node in the structure on the left and then the Test Cases tab on the right side of the screen. Locate some manual test cases like the example below.

One of the new functions of the SAP Solution Manager is the ability to convert these Manual Test Cases to Test Documents at the click of a button. Select one of the test case rows, and then press the Convert Test

Case button. You will be asked to confirm which test cases to convert.

  • 28

Select the row(s) and confirm with the Convert Entries button. When the test case is converted, it should appear as a Test Document, and can be changed.

Double-click on the Test Case name (under the Test Case column.)

Return to your Roadmap, and set the phase Test and Validate to Completed.

  • 29

OPTIONAL EXERCISE: Next, lets examine how to create Test Plans and Test Packages for our testers to execute. Return to your Roadmap.

Select the deliverable Test of New Requirements.

Select the URL for the Test Management Work Center.

  • 30

Select the Test Plan Management area of the navigation panel. You now see all available Test Plans.

Select the Test Plan button, and then Create Test Plan. You will be prompted to assign your project and title.

  • 31

Select the Next button at the bottom of the screen or press F5. Next, you will be prompted for additional attributes. Press the Next button or F5 again.

You will now be able to view all test objects in your project. Expand the nodes.

  • 32

Checkbox those test objects you wish to include in your test plan.

When you are done selecting, generate the Test Plan with the Generate button. When prompted to assign a transport request, for this exercise we will use a Local Object. Return to the Test Management Work Center, and select the Test Plan Management area. You may need to select the Refresh link at the bottom of the list to see your newly created Test Plan. Select your Test Plan and press the button Test Package Management. You are now in the Test Package Management Test Organizer screen.

  • 33

Create a new Test Package with the Create button. Here is where we choose which tests to include in a test package for our testers.

Select some tests delivered with the Business Functions.

  • 34

When you are done selecting tests to include in the package, click the Generate button. Give the test package a title and priority, when prompted. Press F8 or Execute.

Choose Local Object again, for the purposes of this exercise. You will see that the test package is now created.

  • 35

The final step is to assign testers to the package. Any testers assigned will find the test package in their Tester Worklist, also accessible through the SAP Solution Manager Test Management Work Center.

Select the Test Package name and then press the Assign Tester button. You can now browse for SAP Solution Manager users to assign to the Test Package.

Choose some other users from todays session (ALM 167) to assign to your Test Package.
