Allusions in FFA

Progress Report 7

The allusion of Adam and Eve and eating the forbidden fruit in Progress Report 7 (p. 16) represents Charlie’s gaining of knowledge through unnatural ways. Just as Adam and Eve gained knowledge of the world unnaturally by eating the fruit God forbid them to eat, Charlie gained his unnaturally through surgery. Adam and Eve were deemed sinners by God and punished out of the Garden of Eden

Was pure and lived a life filled with bliss

Did not know evil and did not commit evil or even get angry

Did not know relations

Miserable and unhappy

Knows that evil is around him and that he himself is evil

Knows relations Must leave the life

they once knew; there is no going home again
