The Allianz Tower – designed by the famous Japanese architect Arata Isozaki together with Andrea Maffei – forms, with the other two towers designed by Zaha Hadid and Daniel Libeskind, the heart of the major redevelopment project of the former Fiera Campionaria area in Milan, called CityLife Business & Shopping Center. In terms of physical size, it is one of the largest projects of this type in Europe, covering an area of 360 thousand square meters, freed by the move of the trade fair to the Rho-Pero area. CityLife, a company controlled entirely by the insurance Generali Group, won the international tender for the urban redevelopment project announced in 2004, which has involved contractors, fi nancial backers and great names of world architecture. CityLife proposes a new way of living, working and spending leisure time in Milan, with a balanced mix of homes, offi ces, shops and services immersed in a park of 179 thousand square metres.At the center of the intervention rises the Business & Shopping District which includes the three offi ce towers and a shopping center with over 100 stores and quality services. The district is the heart of the neighbourhood and contributes, with the park and the residential units, to making CityLife a new “center” for the whole city.The Allianz Tower - nicknamed “The Straight One” – is a building of 50 fl oors (46 fl oors dedicated to offi ces) that rises to the height of 202 metres above ground level. Each fl oor has a surface area of about 1,100 square meters, with an extremely fl exible division of the working spaces, completely illuminated by natural daylight and with highly impressive panoramic views. Overall, the tower has a surface area of approximately 53 thousand square meters and will be able to host up to 3,800 people.Colombo Costruzioni SpA has been awarded, in its capacity as General Contractor, the executive design and the construction of the Isozaki Tower.

La Torre Allianz - progettata dal celebre progettista giapponese Arata Isozaki insieme ad Andrea Maffei - costituisce, con gli altri due grattacieli disegnati uno da Zaha Hadid e l’altro da Daniel Liberskind, il cuore dell’importante intervento di riqualifi cazione dell’area dell’ex-Fiera Campionaria di Milano denominato CityLife Business & Shopping Center. Per dimensioni si tratta di uno dei maggiori interventi di questo tipo a livello europeo, in quanto si sviluppa su un’area di 360 mila metri quadrati, resa libera dallo spostamento del polo fi eristico nella zona di Rho-Pero. CityLife, società controllata interamente dal Gruppo assicurativo Generali, si è aggiudicata la gara internazionale di qualifi cazione urbana indetta nel 2004, che ha coinvolto imprese, fi nanziatori e grandi nomi dell’architettura mondiale. CityLife propone un nuovo modo di vivere, lavorare e trascorrere il tempo libero a Milano, con un mix bilanciato di funzioni tra residenze, uffi ci, negozi e servizi immersi in un parco di circa 180 mila metri quadrati.Al centro dell’intervento sorge il Business & Shopping District, che racchiude in sé le tre torri a destinazione direzionale e un’area commerciale con oltre 100 negozi e servizi di qualità. Il distretto è il cuore pulsante del quartiere e contribuisce, insieme al parco e alle residenze, a fare di CityLife un nuovo “centro” per l’intera città.La Torre Allianz - soprannominata “Il Dritto” - è un edifi cio che si sviluppa in altezza per ben 50 piani (46 dei quali dedicati ad uffi ci) e raggiunge i 202 metri fuori terra. Ogni piano si sviluppa su una superfi cie di circa 1.100 metri quadrati, con una suddivisione estremamente fl essibile degli spazi di lavoro, completamente illuminati da luce naturale e con viste panoramiche di grande fascino. Complessivamente, la torre sviluppa una superfi cie di circa 53 mila metri quadrati ed è in grado di ospitare fi no a 3 mila e 800 persone.Colombo Costruzioni SpA si è aggiudicata, in qualità di General Contractor, la progettazione esecutiva e la realizzazione della Torre.

The design of the Allianz Tower, as the designer himself explains, “is inspired by Constantin Brancusi’s model of the endless column. It is made up, in fact, of modules of six fl oors which, in their continuation, can ideally be repeated infi nitely. The tower thus represents the metaphor of a building which knows no limits in its aspiration to reach the sky.” The module has a façade made up of prefabricated triple glazed cells in cold bent low iron glass. From the structural point of view, the design is characterized by the use of two Belt trusses in steel to connect the cores at the 24th fl oor in order to limit movement at the top of the building due to wind pressure, and by four struts, equipped at their bases with viscous dampers, that guarantee user comfort in this building which is very narrow in section.The Allianz Tower has obtained the L.E.E.D. certifi cation at the GOLD level, awarded by the Green Building Council..

Il progetto della Torre Allianz, come lo stesso progettista spiega, “si ispira al modello della endless column di Costantin Brancusi. È composta, infatti, da moduli di sei piani che, nel loro susseguirsi, possono idealmente ripetersi all’infi nito. La torre rappresenta così la metafora di una costruzione che non conosce limiti nella sua aspirazione a raggiungere il cielo”. Il modulo presenta una facciata costituita da cellule vetrate prefabbricate con superfi cie curvata a freddo. Da un punto di vista strutturale, il progetto si caratterizza per l’impiego di due “Belt Truss” in acciaio che, collegando i “core” all’altezza del 24° piano, contribuiscono a limitare gli spostamenti alla sommità dell’edifi cio per effetto delle pressioni del vento e di quattro puntoni, dotati al piede di dissipatori viscosi, che garantiscono il comfort abitativo di una struttura dalla sezione così esile.La Torre Allianz ha ottenuto la certifi cazione L.E.E.D. al livello GOLD, rilasciata dal Green Building Council.
