From the Rector...
Dear Members of All Saints’ Parish Family, “ Remember those who taught you the word of God.
Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever...
Your strength comes from God’s grace.”
Hebrews 13.8-9
As we begin a new calendar year, we look back as we look forward. Back to the events of the past year[s], with
thanksgiving and forward to the future with hope. We are part of a vast company of faithful people throughout the
millennia who share in the faith of Jesus Christ. In our rapidly changing, and sometimes frightening, world it is good to be
reminded that the One whose birth we have just celebrated, the One who lived and died as one of us, who died for us,
rose from the dead, is alive and who is coming back, is unchanging. His love is from everlasting to everlasting, and His
faithfulness from generation to generation. Jesus himself assured all his followers: Heaven and earth will pass away, but
my words will not pass away. [Luke 21.33].
So we go forward, with confidence, knowing that no matter what changes this new year may bring, the One whose name
we bear will be with us. [see Hebrews 13.5]. Like St Paul, we may be confident that He who began a good work in us will
bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. [see Philippians 1.3-5] .
This Christmas Season, there are so many who give so generously of time, talent and treasure, whether with
Starfish, the giving tree, other ministry needs of our parish, that are part of our fabric at All Saints’. Truly, I thank
God for each of you and I thank you for your kindness and generosity to our church family, to me personally, and
to those beyond our walls. Thank you!
The first Sunday of the New Year [03 January] is the Feast of the Epiphany which celebrates the visit of the magi [the wise
ones!] to the infant Jesus. These strangers, from distant lands, journeyed, seeking the One
promised of God, and when they found Him, bowed down in worship and offered all that was
most precious to them, to the One born to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords, [see Matthew
2.1-12]. In all of our journeys may we continue to seek and worship and offer.
Epiphany is traditionally a time to welcome people into our homes. Following our morning celebration of Epiphany
[03 January], I invite each one of you to my home, for my annual Open House. [76 Florence Street West, 3.00-6.00 pm]
Drop by anytime! Younger saints & older saints [and, of course, magi!]- everyone is welcome!
The second Sunday of January [10 January] is the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus. At 10 am will be our Family Service in
which we will have an opportunity to renew our baptismal vows, reaffirming our commitment to live as citizens of God’s
kingdom, in this world.
The discussions concerning the future shape of ministry in Muskoka are ongoing. The Bishop has been listening to the
concerns of our Deanery and will be making decisions for the way forward. Some people are excited at the prospect of
the reshaping of our mission and ministry, others are more anxious. Whether the discussions surround Sunday morning
services or Deanery-wide initiatives, we may be sure that the One who is the same, yesterday, today and forever will be
with us to lead us and guide us in His will and way.
Yours, with love thanksgiving, in the peace and grace of Jesus Christ,
our Lord and Saviour,
The Venerable Dawn Henderson +
Rector
From the Wardens
The warden's would like to take this opportunity to wish all parishioners and all your loved ones a very blessed 2016. Looking back in 2015 we have so much to be grateful for, our All Saints Parish House is completed and rented out; this is a huge accomplishment and something we are very grateful for. Our mission statement, "As Worshippers of the Living God, We Hear, Proclaim and Live His word and in Love Bring People to Jesus" is supported by our many ministries, teams & committees which is comprised of many of dedicated volunteers who serve on them. We are truly grateful for all our volunteers and would like to take this opportunity to say "thank-you" for all you do. We are asking all leaders of the various committees to please have your annual report into Cathie, our Church Secretary by February 9th; this will allow ample time for the vestry report to be compiled. Given the number of committees we have and the varied work that each does there are many opportunities to share your gifts by serving on them; if there is a committee you feel you might be interested in serving on please contact the leader of that committee, there is always room for more assistance in living out our parish mission statement. We encourage all parishioners to attend the annual vestry meeting set for February 21st after the 10:00 am service. If you cannot attend we encourage everyone to please review the vestry report once it is published as it is truly marvelous to read and understand how much work your All Saints Parish Family does and how it bears witness to our mission statement. On January 3rd Venerable Dawn invited the entire parish family to her home, each year Venerable Dawn extends this generous invitation to her open house to allow the parish family to enjoy food and fellowship. Thank-you, Dawn for your hospitality and kindness it is most appreciated! Due to our financial situation a special appeal letter was sent to all parishioners this year requesting assistance from those who are able to assist All Saints; the corporation would like to thank each and every one who has been able to support the parish in this manner; we are again truly grateful. Thank-you,
Your All Saints Parish Wardens
Pastoral Care
Pastoral care delivered Christmas Remembrances to several parishioners before Christmas. Pastoral care would like to thank the Outreach Committee for sharing with our committee $300.00. This money will be used for funeral roses, cards and postage. Pastoral care is very grateful.
Respectfully submitted, Sue Dixon & Betty-Lou Durr,
The Parish Advisory Council met on December 8th, 2015. The listing below provides and update as to what the PAC is discussing / working on:
In December at our Outreach meeting we were once again reminded of the time and
talent parishioners of All Saints’ share with our wider community and overseas. So we
want to celebrate by telling you about the projects we were able to support with your
Outreach donations.
Syrian Refugee Sponsorship, Huntsville $500.00
A number of All Saints’ parishioners attended a meeting on December 1st about the refugee
sponsorship being undertaken by church and community groups in Huntsville. Ven. Dawn is a
member of the organizing committee. Over 300 people from Muskoka were there to hear from a
representative of AURA (Anglican United Refugee Assistance) who outline the process of
sponsorship and answered questions. The wonderful news is that SRS Huntsville is well on its way to
reaching its financial goals.
The Door, Huntsville Youth for Christ $500 for ongoing programming at their facility.
This is a vital youth ministry in our community. All Saints’ partners with The Door to provide
dinner on Fridays to young people attending an after school Bible study. The youth stay on for the
evening program at The Door. A special thank you to Joy Gervais, Joe Pace and Darla McMeeken who
prepare the dinner each Friday and a community member who helps to fund the groceries.
Pastoral Care at All Saints $300 for reaching out to homebound seniors in our community
We are very aware of the outreach ministry of this small group of dedicated parishioners who bring
meals, visits and connect our homebound seniors to the celebrations of the church year.
Water Hydration Tablets for Haiti. $100.00
This is a project of the Worker Sisters and Brothers of the Holy Spirit which provides clean drinking
water especially during the critical wet season in Haiti. Betty Lou Durr, our warden, is a member of
the Worker Sisters and keeps us informed of the ongoing needs in Haiti.

PWRDF
Executive Director to retire in May, 2016 November 16, 2015 | By Fred Hiltz PWRDF Executive Director Adele Finney. Photo: Jesse Dymond A letter from Archbishop Fred Hiltz, President of the PWRDF Board of Directors and Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada: It is with sadness and hope that I am announcing today that PWRDF’s Executive Director, Adele Finney, will be retiring as of May 31, 2016. Sadness because we will be losing the wisdom, talent and knowledge that Adele has brought to her position in her six years as Executive Director. Hope because of the future her leadership has brought us to. Adele announced on Friday to the PWRDF National Gathering of Board members, Diocesan rep-resentatives and Youth Council that she will be leaving PWRDF at the end of May. When I asked her to come to PWRDF as interim executive director at the beginning of 2010, I had no idea that we would be blessed to have Adele with us for almost 7 years, first as interim and then as permanent ED. During Adele’s tenure, PWRDF has continued to grow as a learning organization. It has entered into new agreements with the Canadian government for maternal, newborn and child health work. Its budget has grown to reflect the new scope of its work. As Adele said in her remarks, “PWRDF is not the organization it was when I came, and we’re standing breathlessly at the edge of going forward with greater confidence about the program we have achieved and the opportunity to integrate it at every level—internationally and in Canada.” This is not our farewell to Adele- she will be with us for another seven months. But it is the beginning of a time of transition for PWRDF and the Anglican Church of Canada, and for Adele and her family. Please hold them all in your prayers!
Canadian government announces matching funds for Syrian emergency relief The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD) announced that it would match, dollar for dollar, donations from individual Canadians to eligible registered Canadian charities—including PWRDF—for relief efforts for those affected by the Syrian emergency into the government’s Syria Emergency Relief Fund. The govern-ment match will continue until December 31, 2015. The Syria Emergency Relief Fund will be used to “help meet the basic needs of conflict-affected people in the region, as well as in official development assistance-eligible transit countries for refugees.” . PWRDF will be able to apply to the Syria Emergency Relief Fund for money to support its work in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan, but the fund is administered by DFATD, and will be allocated by them. Since 2012, PWRDF has been providing food, water, shelter, health care, counseling, sanitation, and more relief to thousands of Syrians displaced within their own country, as well as those who have fled as refugees to Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. PWRDF has worked with the ACT Alliance and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to provide this aid. People are welcome to donate online, or by phone. Did you have visitors at your house for Christmas? Well,
Jesus had Christmas visitors too!
When Jesus was born, shepherds came to visit Him
because an angel had told them that the Saviour of the
world was born. If they went to Bethlehem, where Jesus
was born, they would find the little baby lying in a manger
[a box in which food for animals was placed]. The
shepherds heard what the angel said and they decided to
go to see for themselves. So, they left their sheep in the
care of others, and travelled into town to find the baby.
And exactly as the angel had said, they found Him with
His mother, Mary, and His father, Joseph. There had
been no room for them at the inns in Bethlehem, but one
inn keeper said they could spend the night in his stable
with the animals. God loves all people and He thinks eve-
ryone is important—the rich and the poor, the powerful
people, and the people nobody else thinks are important.
In the days of Jesus, shepherds weren’t considered im-
portant; they weren’t rich; they smelled, and people were-
n’t always kind to them. But those are the very people to
whom God sent His angel and they were the first visitors
