Land Awards Increased
Original awards totaling $207,-200, made by the Court of Claims for land taken by the state for arterial connection purposes south of the Menands end of the Troy-Mendands Bridge, have b~en increased to $227,920.
The Appellate Division made the $22,720 increase, sustaining appeals by WER Realty Inc. and Mrs. Grace K. McCully that the original awards were "in::..dequate."
The new ,decision rejects the state's cross appeal that the Of
ginal verdicts were excessive." Under the orig:nal award,
WER Realty shared equally with
Mrs. McCully, each getting, $103,500.
Under today's decision WER's award is increased to $105,620 and Mrs. McCully's to $119,082.
Mrs. McCully of 449 Broadway, Menands, was the owner of the 21·acre tract which for many years was used for truck gardening by her family. WER Realty, 205 Delaware Ave., Elsmere, leased it from her in 1959 at an annual rental of $7,200 with option to purchase to $103,000 after 25 years.
WER in turn the next year negoiated a lease wit~ the Grand Union grocery chain, to construct a supermarket for which Grand Union would pay $122,000 annually for 20 _years, plus certain sales percentages.

SELF-SERVICE, PRE-PACKAGED MEATS CAN BE A PROBLEM! You can see the top side of the meat but not the bottom.
So you wonder.
The steak looks good, but is the bottom all bone and fat?
It's a problem ... a problem we've given a lot of thought.
We think we have the answer.
We have a policy.
We put the best side down.
The side you don't see is guaranteed to be equal to
or better than the side you can see.
Simple? as ABC.
Effective? No more gamble,
Fair and square? Sure because "We Care."
Is this a good reason for shopping A&P? It's one of many.

At Arena Arena Summer Theatre, a
function of the Department of Speech and Dramatic Art at the State University of New York at Albany. opens its fifteenth consecutive season of fine drama Wednesday night with "Aphrodite 66: Three Plays in Three Styles," an exciting bill of original one-act plays by new American playwrights. Directed by James M. Leonard of the University's dramatic art faculty and a resident of Delmar. the plays, as yet unpublished and as yet not publicly performed in New York, premiere Wednesday through Saturday, July 20 through 23, at the Arena Summer Theatre, 135 Western Avenue, Alba.ny.
The first play, "A Special Assignment in Enemy Territory," is a new work by Norman Kennelly whose "Undercover Man" was recently presented off-Broadway. A warm farce invested with Pop-Art nostalgia, the play takes place in a New York City mnvw I
house while images of a youthful Cary Grant and Irene Dunn flicker on the screen and a chance meeting of two lonely people leads them to examine their reasons for being there.
"The Regatta" by Milton E. Brener, a New Orleans lawyer, is a naturalistic drama which concerns a man's selfishness and the convolutions of rationalization he indulges in to preserve his pride in his struggle with his estranged wife over their son.
A darkly comic ritual of the inescapable irrational, "The Rape of Bunny Stuntz," by A, R. Gurney, Jr., deals with a superclubwoman who, after losing the key to the box which contains the agenda for the meeting over which she presides, roars away into the night with a mysterious

Tour of Asia and Africa
THE SPOTLIGHT
As for me, I spent several weeks in my little shop building a "one sixteenth scale model" of the water wheel used in much of Asia to raise water from wells, (usually from 12 to 40 feet deep) for the purpose of irrigating the rice paddies and other farm produce.
We have seen hundreds of these in operation and many thousands still are in daily use.
