Romans 12 states that “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.” As we look forward to the future, we ask that God continues to transforms our hearts and minds to know what his pleasing and perfect will is. YEAR 6 MEET THE TEACHERS SOCIAL
On Wednesday the 7th of March, the Year 6 students of A.B.C had a social event with the high school teachers after school. The event was themed after The Amazing Race. It was an exciting event which helped the Year 6
students prepare for high school next year.
The event ran from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, there were activities featuring solving puzzles, hitting a ping pong ball down a ramp without dropping it, measuring liquids, and tasting food and guessing which company it comes from. It all
ended with a medium sized water fight with water balloons. Each team was made up of 2 - 3 people.
After completing an activity, each team would be given a clue to where the next activity is, as well as how to get
there.
Overall it was a fun afternoon which we all enjoyed. My favourite part was the water fight and getting to have a
treat to eat to start the afternoon.

Secondary Interschool Swimming Carnival It's been a fantastic term of swimming for the secondary college at Alkimos Baptist College. We had our first ever beach carnival,
which was a fantastic day. The students participated really well, and there were a lot of incredible individual performances from
students of all ages. Our interschool carnival was next and we had some standout performers, with Jacque Montagnon finishing
in the top 3 for the Year 9 boy category, and Luke Montagnon winning the Year 7 boy category. All up, our Junior boys came 3rd
overall out of 8 schools which is our best performance to date. Well done to all swimmers who made it to training throughout
the term and worked so hard to improve their swimming, and I look forward to improving even further next year!
A lot has happened in the past month especially for the Year 5/6s, I’ll go into detail about
Ultimate Frisbee, Circus Sport and the Afterschool Cinema so let’s get going.
The Ultimate Frisbee competition was a day where winning or losing didn’t matter all that
mattered was that we were having fun. Before the day, the Year 5/6s did a lot of training for
the day, from drills to mini games. On the day there was 3 teams, Alkimos 1,2,3.
I was in Alkimos 3.
The first 3 games we lost but as the day went on we began to win a few games, once or twice
we competed against Alkimos 1 and 2. All round the day was a lot of fun and I enjoyed every
second of it.
Last time I mostly talked about the first lesson of Circus sport, now I am just going to recap
what we have done so far. A few new circus apparatuses were introduced to us, including
balancing poles, diablos, scarf juggling and human pyramids.
Out of all the new apparatuses my favourite was the diablo, which is basically a spinning
cylinder on string. You could do quite a few tricks with at including the “elevator” where you
had to get the diablo going as fast as possible and then wrapping the string around the
diablo forcing it to go up. I succeeded in doing it twice and it made me feel accomplished to
be able to do it, since it is a very difficult trick to do. Overall my experience at circus sport
has only improved over time because every lesson we learnt something different and unique.
On Friday the 24th my family went to school, like a lot of others to watch the outdoor cinema
that our school was hosting. Last year we watched “Big Hero 6” and this year it was
Dreamworks animations feel good movie of the year “Trolls”. The night was quite fun, I had
a few cokes and my family got a bag of popcorn. I had a milk chocolate bar (my favourite),
I enjoyed all the music that was in Trolls, especially the last bit of music at the end. A few
people forgot that it was going to be an outdoor cinema and forgot to bring a blanket, as for
my family we bought two bigger blankets and overall I enjoyed the night, it really was quite
a good movie.
Next month I am looking forward to the Year 5/6 school camp and the Year 6 Assembly. Only
time will tell how well they go.

The students had 10 minutes to build a famous world landmark. They were only given a picture of their
landmark one minute before their building time commenced.
Their instruction was “Create a Lego construction that resembles the famous landmark given to you.”

Year 3/4 Mad Math Monday’s
Every Monday is Mad Math Monday in Year 3/4 where
students explore a range of fun, critical thinking math centres.
In Week 7, students became Math detectives and apart of the
Their first case clue was: ‘Numbers are disappearing! Use the
multiplication equation as a clue to determine which number
is missing.’ Students had to use a UV light to reveal the hidden
message on their puzzle cards. Then they had to figure out
the number ‘disguised as a square’ for each card, showing
their ‘detective working out’ to solve the case!
