DOA SAFAR (TRAVEL PRAYER)In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most MercifulPraise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds, and may peace be upon our Honourable Prophet and Messenger (Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), his family and companions. May peace be upon all of them.In the name of Allah, we invoke His name as we embark on this journey and even when we are at rest. For my Lord is Ever Forgiving, Most Merciful, and no just estimate have they made of Allah, such as is due to Him.Glory be to Him who has brought this under our control, for we could never have accomplished this by ourselves. And to our Lord, surely must we return.O Allah, we ask of You for goodness and piety on this journey, and from our deeds that meet Your pleasure.O Allah, lighten our burden on this journey and bridge the distances between us.O Allah, You are our companion on this journey and the Protector for the family we leave behind.O Allah, verily we seek refuge in You from this journey’s hardship, from evil eyes and misfortune to befall our household. And may the Grace of Allah be bestowed upon our leader,Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam and his family and companions. And Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds.

If the saying holds true that sequels rarely live up to the original, then the much-anticipated follow-up to Tim Burton’s 2010 blockbuster Alice in Wonderland has a tough act to follow. Burton’s Alice… became a global phenomenon, practically overnight, catapulting Mia Wasikowska to international superstardom and quickly becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time – one of only a handful of films to have earned over $1 billion worldwide.
This time round Burton serves only as producer, whilst directorial duties have fallen to James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted), who injects the lavish fantasy world Burton created with his own unique vision. As aesthetically stunning as Burton’s original, Through the Looking Glass is a delightful romp through space and time, infused with the gentle lunacy of Carroll’s creations (albeit bearing little overall resemblance to his actual story), with a script from acclaimed screenwriter Linda Woolverton, who once again brings Underland’s timeless characters to life.
When we resume our acquaintance with Alice (Wasikowska), the girl we knew
Magnificent visuals and epic action sequences, from a CGI team with a budget roughly equivalent to the GDP of a small country, are further aided by the superb cast. Johnny Depp reprises his role as the eminently likeable Hatter, with his usual colourful eccentricity; Helena Bonham Carter is on overdrive as the eminently unlikeable Red Queen; and the honeyed, dulcet tones of Stephen Fry and the late Alan Rickman imbue Alice’s animal companions with warmth and charm. But the most memorable performance comes from Sacha Baron Cohen, who (in a brilliant piece of casting by Bobin) plays Time himself: a curious individual, at once funny and vulnerable, villainous and lovable, fulfilling his cosmic duties with the help of a crew of rather delightful minion-type creatures who provide some of the film’s best comic moments.
For all its big-budget visuals, Bobin’s sequel has something to say, and the themes it tackles – family, time, and the consequences of individual actions – are ones with a universal resonance.
Catch Alice Through the Looking Glass on board today!

from our first outing into Underland has become a young woman, following in her father’s footsteps as a fearless and respected mariner on the high seas. When she returns to England, she finds herself embroiled in a less than auspicious business situation; a surprise encounter with her old pal Absolem the Caterpillar (the late, great Alan Rickman) leads her to step through a magical mirror and back into Underland. After being reunited with the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry), the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen), Tweedledee and Tweedledum (Matt Lucas), she finds her friend the Hatter (Johnny Depp) in a pit of depression, and sets off on an epic journey back in time to save his family from disaster and alter the course of his life. In the process she encounters her friends and foes in their younger days, and embarks on a perilous race against Time himself.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE– James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence
MOVIESFEATURE: HIGHLIGHT
Following 2014’s critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with its sequel, and the ninth instalment in the X-Men series, X-Men: Apocalypse. Singer’s fourth outing as an X-Men director, Apocalypse sees a return to the core X-Men ensemble of James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr (AKA Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy and Rose Byrne as CIA operative Moira MacTaggert.
The film is set in 1983, when the irascible En Sabah Nur (AKA Apocalypse) – the original and most powerful of all the mutants in Marvel’s X-Men universe – awakes from a several-thousand-year-long slumber. Furious to discover that he and his kind are no longer regarded as the gods they once were, Apocalypse assembles a team of mutants, including
performances, as do newcomers Oscar Isaac (playing the titular Apocalypse) and Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Kodi Smit-McPhee, who play the younger original trilogy characters Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler. A heavy focus on Magneto does prevent these new characters from being explored in depth – but perhaps leaving this as territory to be explored in future sequels.
This is not, as it could easily have been, a formulaic movie, and neither does it rest on the laurels of previous successes. It’s a visual masterpiece, of course, with spectacular special effects and epic action sequences, and although unafraid to tackle big ideas, it doesn’t take itself too seriously either. Apocalypse is a fitting addition to an extraordinary series of movies that has only improved with every new instalment.
a dispirited Magneto, to wipe out civilization and bring into being a new world order. With the fate of humankind thus hanging in the balance, Raven and Professor X lead a team of young X-Men to end Apocalypse’s path of destruction.
An expertly crafted, action-packed piece of high-octane cinema, Apocalypse skilfully interweaves new material, past storylines, action, big ideas and resonant themes, with the same dexterity that has earned Singer the acclaim he’s received for his previous work on the X-Men series. The series regulars deliver stellar

With over a billion vehicles on roads across the world, and with this figure projected to increase to over 2 billion by 2035, it’s hard to imagine a world without this incredible transport technology. But how much do we actually know about what makes our cars what they are? Where do the materials come from and how do they all fit together to create a vehicle? In this special episode from the How the Universe Works series, we are able to find out just that.
During the episode we are taken under the bonnet of your car. From the gold in your stereo to the copper in your electronics and wiring; these components are vital
to the inner workings of vehicles across the world, but the precious metals also have an incredible story. Each was created billions of years ago during extraordinary cosmic events in the universe.
Narrated by Mike Rowe, we are guided by industry and scientific experts, including world-class astronomers and planetary scientists, using incredible visual effects to provide brilliantly clear explanations. This programme is a priceless combination: it’s endlessly fascinating, thanks to the compelling facts and theories that are detailed, but it’s also a visual treat for the audience. The stunning images of the violent
universe-based events from billions of years ago are worth the watch alone; it’s rare to find a documentary that displays everything from stars exploding to tiny particles spinning, in such beautiful detail. Another noteworthy aspect of this documentary is that the facts and the presentation style match the immersive visual feast, as it features experts who are able to put across ideas in an engaging and relatable way.
This documentary is a delight for anyone of any age, but will be especially enthralling to those who are fans of technology, space, science and motor vehicles. A must-watch!

MUSICFEATURE: FOCUS
SEASICK STEVE“Steve has world influences in his music and has
recently worked with legends in the
music world...”
Since bursting onto the scene in 2007, the ever-intriguing Seasick Steve has captured the attention of fans of all different kinds of music from all over the world.
Primarily a blues musician, Steve embrac-es pop music, rock, psychedelic and a catalogue of obscurities, and channels them into his own projects – often played out through guitars he’s made himself, in-cluding a three string duct-taped creation, or instruments made out of car hubcaps; and yes, Steve’s quite a character.
A well-travelled man, Steve has world influences in his music and has recently worked with legends in the music world,
with names such as Jack White and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin eager to record with the man known as “Seasick”.
The album Sonic Soul Surfer typifies not only Steve’s style of music, but his char-acter and personality, and it does so right
from the beginning. “Roy’s Gang” is the opening number and is a bed of energetic swagger laid down under a blues-y toned vocal range, setting the tone for the rest of the album.
It is apparent that Seasick’s heart has gone into every track that he has ever written, and each album takes the listener through a different story. He’s a man with many stories to tell, and each album he re-leases is cause for celebration. So take the time to put on Sonic Soul Surfer, sit back, and get caught up in a new lyrical tale.
