Stillman jessica . stillman@browardschools . com www . mrsstillman . com Textbook : Algebra 2 – Holt McDougal/Larson Course Description : This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts learned in previous courses. Topics include, but are not limited to, advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, statistics and trigonometry. The content in this course will help students build a sturdy foundation for upper level mathematics. This course will also help students prepare for the SAT, ACT and other college mathematics entrance exams. Classroom Expectations : 1. Be in your seat and ready to begin learning when the bell rings. 2. Raise your hand and wait to be called on to ask questions and/or make comments. 3. Have your notebook and all required materials with you every day. 4. All assignments are to be completed with integrity and with all work shown. 5. Always respect each other and each other’s property. *County and school wide rules are always in effect (refer to Code of Student Conduct). Failure to follow the above guidelines may lead to : 1. Verbal Warning 2. Phone call home 3. Detention (to be served within one week) 4. Referral *The severity of the infraction will determine at which level the consequences will begin. Required Materials : • 3 ring binder with labeled dividers (Notes, Homework, Quizzes, Toolbox) • Loose-leaf paper • Pencils and erasers • 2 different colored highlighters • Straightedge • Scientific Calculator Options: TI-30XA, TI-30X IIS, TI-30XS MultiView Scientific Calculator Class Notes : Students are expected to take notes on a daily basis. Notes include definitions, formulas, procedures, and example problems. Make sure to take thorough notes, as this will be a good resource to help you prepare for tests and quizzes. Homework : Homework will be assigned on a daily basis and will be checked periodically. At the beginning of each chapter a syllabus of assignments will be given with a detailed assignment for each day. You are expected to read this syllabus on a daily basis. ALL problems must be ATTEMPTED to receive full credit.
