Authentication
• By default Office 2010 on Windows and Windows 7 (Mac?) does not support HTTP Basic Authentication over HTTP as passwords are sent in plain text
• By default, Alfresco uses HTTP Basic Authentication
Therefore…
• Out-of-the-Box Office 2010 or Windows 7 and Alfresco installs will not work
• Options:1. Change Windows registry to enable support for basic auth.
• Ok for demos, but not for productionHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet\BasicAuthLevel
(REG_DWORD) and set its value to 2
2. Setup Alfresco and the Sharepoint Module to use SSL
• See https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/DOC-227
Other Authentication Issues
• If Windows 7 prompts for password for each operationo See http://www.quantumofgeek.com/2010/02/windows-7-prompting-for-authentication-when-accessing-sharepoint-documents/
• If you are prompted to enter your credentials when you access an full qualified domain name site (e.g. my.alfresco.site) from Windows Vista or Windows 7 client that has no proxy configuredo See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943280
