Education

Students In Action is a national youth volunteer leadership, recognition and reward program, designed to pass the tradition of service on to the next generation.

Co-developed by Jefferson Awards for Public Service and Deloitte, it is now in over 250 High Schools.

Each spring, Student Leaders from the participating schools compete in regional competitions. They are asked to report on the implementation of the program, and the impact they've had, both in their schools and within their communities.

We advertised the Packed the Pantry activity through the our district’s intranet site.

A notice was also placed on WTOC’s website to advertise the Phonebook Recycling Program that our school participated in.

This year we also recognized a church (The Christian Revival Center) within our community that did a Haiti Relief Project. A dress down day was used to raise $700 for the cause. The money was used to buy supplies for the church and they were given a Jefferson Awards for their efforts.

We paired up with Vaden Car Dealerships for our Packed the Pantry and Pennies for Patients activities.

We created an information board and winner board in the main lobby of our school. We nominated 3 more winners than the previous year along with adding 2 more student leaders to create more depth for our program in the future. We also attended the Fall Training in Charleston, SC.

We also added a Jefferson Awards page to our school webpage.
