Alcohol AddictionAlcohol is one of the most commonly abused substances,  as it is highly available and affordable. Some regard it as being the most dangerous substance in the world because of these reasons.

According to National Library of Medicine, over 17 million Americans (a population twice as large as New York City), are battling alcoholism on a daily basis making this one of the most widely abused substances across the country.

• Genetics• Psychological Factors• Social Factors• Environmental Factors• Trauma• Stress

Symptoms of an Alcoholism• Unable to limit the amount of

alcohol consumed• Hiding alcohol in weird or

abnormal places• Lost of interest in hobbies or

extracurricular activities• Physical withdrawal symptoms

like nausea, sweating and shaking when no alcohol is consumed

• Neglect of normal responsibilities

• Alcohol use in dangerous situations

• Drinking to de-stress

• Do not place judgment on the user• Always offer up the option of treatment• Keep strong communication by showing understanding• Uphold boundaries designed to protect yourself and your

well-being• Do not enable the user with money, shelter, food or

clothing• Enlist the help of an interventionist or a therapist to help

mediate the situation• Get therapy to better understand addiction and its impact

on your life
