Dienst) Pages: 40 This Air Force Instruction implements Air Force Policy Directive 44-1, Medical Operations. It establishes guidance for the United States Air Force Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program. This instruction provides guidance for the identification, treatment and management of personnel with substance use disorders and describes Air Force policy regarding alcohol, prescription drug, and illicit drug misuse, as well as other addictive behaviors. This instruction applies to all active duty United States Air Force members, and to members of the United States Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard whenever eligible for Department of Defense medical services. The Air Force Reserve Command and Air National Guard do not have separate systems to provide behavioral health treatment, including substance use disorder treatment. Clarification about Air Force Reserve specific policies, processes, and/or procedures should be directed to Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command/Surgeon General’s Mental Health Consultant at Robins AFB, GA. When not eligible for Department of Defense medical services, Air Reserve Component members will obtain, when needed, non-military substance use disorder services at their own expense. This Instruction requires the collection and or maintenance of information protected by the Privacy Act of 1974 authorized by Title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.) 8013, 42 U.S.C.290dd-2, et seq., and Executive Order 11478, Executive Order 9397, Numbering System for Federal Accounts Relating to Individual Persons, November 22, 1943 as amended by Executive Order 13478, Amendments to Executive Order 9397 Relating to Federal Agency Use of Social Security Numbers, November 18, 2008.
