1.1 PLATFORM FOR WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT

1.2 WHAT IS CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)?

• Content Management Systems do what they sound like - they help you manage your content. Essentially, a CMS allows you to create/edit/delete your site pages without getting into the coding side of things.

• The content is largely stored in a site database, which lives on a web server, alleviating the need to back up hundreds of HTML files.

• Ecommerce websites, for example, use content management systems 90% of the time.Blogs use them too.

• Among the most notable are WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Zen Cart and more..

1.3 RUNNING A WEBSITE USING WORDPRESS

• What You Need:

1. Domain and Cpanel Hosting that supports MySQL databases and PHP.

2. FTP Software – FileZilla

3. Dashboard – Wordpress Control Panel

1.4 INTRODUCTION TO CPANEL HOSTING

• CPanel is one of the most popular online control panels that are designed to allow Webmasters complete control over their web presence.

• To access Cpanel:

1.4 INTRODUCTION TO CPANEL HOSTING

• Hosting Cpanel

Create Email Using Company Domain

• Eg. email: [email protected]• Go to “Mail” tab and choose “email

account”

• Step 1: Choose NameChoose Domain Enter PasswordClick Create


• Step 2:Mail Client Configuration such as Microsoft Outlook


• Step 3a: Clik Yes for Mail Client Configuration


• Step 3b: Click No, to access all email listing

To access your email, click at “access webmail”


• Step 4: Enter password and Click Login


• Step 5: Choose Email Client to Open Your Email:

1.5 INTRODUCTION TO FTP - FILEZILLA

• FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is the name of the application and the protocol used for moving files between two hosts on a TCP/IP network.

• One of the FTP software is FileZilla.

• Download the client version of Filezilla:

• Install FileZilla and open the software.

• To access your server, enter below information:Host :ftp.namadomain.com , contoh: ftp.catzer.com

• Enter your server username and password, click “quickconnect”.

1.6 AUTO INSTALLATION OF WORDPRESS

• Login Cpanel:http://www.mydomain.com/cpanel• Scroll to software/services tab, and click on

Fantastico De Luxe icon:




• You will access Fantastico Control Panel. Click “Wordpress”

• Click on “New Installation”


• Step #1: Enter all website information and click “Install Wordpress”.


• Step #2: Click “Finish Installation”


• Step #3: Enter your Email and send all installation information to your selected email.


• Step #4: Installation details were sent to your email. Click “Back to WordPress Overview”.


• Step #5 (END): WordPress Overview shown all wordpress. To visit your website, click “Visit Site”.


• Standard Theme: Click Login to access Wordpress Dashboard.

• OR type this url:http://www.mydomain.com/wp-login.php


• Enter Username and Password, Click Login


• Dashboard Wordpress (Site Administration)

2.1 INTRODUCTION TO WP DASHBOARD

2.2 THEME WORDPRESS CONFIGURATION

• Each Wordpress site come together with Standard Theme,Click at “Appearance” to access all available theme.

2.2 SIDEBAR CONFIGURATION

• Login to WP dashboard, choose appearance widget


• Insert banner/html code to sidebar: Go to appearance → widget → drag and

drop widget “text”


3. Enter the title and paste the banner/html code, click “save” and “close” the text block.

2.3 INSTALL A NEW THEME

• Login to Wordpress dashboard and go to appearance → theme → click preview or activate

2.4 PLUGIN CONFIGURATION

• Plugins are extensions for the WordPress software that can help to overcome some limitations of the Blogging Software, or can extend the possibilities of this great Software.

• Eg.; contact form, ecommerce,seo plugin.etc

• Install plugin Contact Form:1. Download Plugin here:

new → choose “upload”3. Browse downloaded zip file and click“Install Now”.

• Installation SUCCESS! Click “Active Plugin”


• You can deactivated the plugins in future by click the “deactivate”

2.4 CONTACT FORM PLUGIN CONFIGURATION

• Go to plugin tab → clean contact.Enter your email and all related information Click “Save setting”


• Copy and paste code [clean-contact] at contact page

• Create new page: tab page → add new → Write the page name (Contact) → paste code [clean-contact] → Click publish


• Contact Form Ready To Be Use!!!

• Note: Please read the “readme” file before any plugin installation, since each plugin have a difference instruction.

MODULE 3Anatomy of WP Dashboard



3.1 CREATE/EDIT/DELETE USER

• Create/edit/delete site admin by login to WP Dashboard Users Tab


• Add New User: users tab add new enter all information about new user choose “role” click add user

• Go to dashboard Wordpress tab post add new.

• Type your title and content.

• Insert the tag/keyword that related with your post.

• Choose selected categories or you can add “new categories”

• Click “Publish” once done.

• You can edit/delete previous post by go to post tab → edit → choose post that you want to edit/delete

3.3 INSERT MEDIA IN POST

• You can insert image,video,audio,other media during create a new post.

3.4 CREATE/EDIT/DELETE CATEGORIES

• You can create/edit/delete previous post by go to post tab categories

MODULE 4 Maintaining a Healthy Site



4.1 CHANGE PERMALINK

• Favorite option for permalinks is to use the field “custom structure” and then use /%postname%/ or /%postname%.html. This will give you search engine friendly URLs with the title and keywords in place.

• Access to dashboard WordPress tab setting permalink• Use custom structure “/%postname%/”• Clik save setting• This will change the url title:

4.2 CHECK PRIVACY SETTINGS

• Check privacy settings to make sure you don’t block search engines to index your website.

• Go to “setting” tab Privacy Click top option save setting

4.3 CHECK DISCUSSION SETTING

• Check discussion settings to reflect the way you want to handle comments, if you want to have people commenting or not. For a static business website without a blog you should disable commenting here.

• You also can disable comment during create a new post here:

4.4 CHANGE READING SETTING

• This is were you change the settings for use a static page or a blog page.This option may not work if you use some premium themes as they will use the file home.php for the Home page layout. In those kind of themes you will find a separate template for a blog page.

4.5 UPGRADE WEBSITE DATABASE

• Current version (2.9.2), if older version you can upgrade by go to setting upgrade.

• Just follow all the step and done!

4.6 BACKUP WEBSITE DATABASE

• Please backup your website database each time after you change all the setting/content.

• To backup, go to setting export choose author download export file
