Cataracts are the result of the normally clear lens in your eye becoming cloudy. Cataracts happen to almost everyone as they age, however there are many treatments available and they can even result in improved quality of vision. Symptoms of cataracts include, cloudy or hazy vision. It may feel as if there is a film covering your eye, but repeated blinking does not make it go away. A full eye exam with an optometrist can determine if you have cataracts. Symptoms of Cataracts Is your vision blurry or foggy? Do you have decreased night vision or see halos around lights? Do colours appear dull or muted? Are your glasses no longer working? Does sunlight or other light seem overly bright or glaring?

Why me? Why not? With slippers on my feet and in my hand. With gravity in overtime I barely can stand Whatever the compass it’s uphill each way. I trip over shadows as I shuffle and sway. An aid in each ear and specks for my eyes A crick in my and aches in my thighs I’m out of my bed before the sun shine. Not knowing what to do with all the spare time. With advice from strangers how my life should be run. I’m taking my time, there's no race to be won The privilege of old age not all will attain And I’m just in no hurry for haven’s domain. Now don’t get me wrong life has been good. I’d undo some blunders if I thought that I could. Hello Estate residents! To welcome August, we have a bunch of new and exciting activi-

ties and fun outings planned. For all of you who love game shows and some competitive

fun, Thursday mornings we will be playing our version of some famous game shows so

come on out and let`s have some FUN! And, for all of you who love the horse races,

Monday Aug. 21st we`re venturing out to the race track so place your bets. For all you

bird lovers, Thursday Aug. 31st, we will be visiting the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, don`t

forget your binoculars. Looking forward to another great month . ~Erin

Alberta Civic Holiday………... In 1974 the Government of Alberta, acting through Minister of Culture Dr. Horst A. Schmid, declared the first Mon-day in August an annual holiday to recognize and celebrate the varied cultural heritage of Albertans, known as Heritage Day.[4] This gave rise in 1976 to the Edmonton Heritage Festival, a three-day celebration of food, dance, and handicrafts of cultures from around the world. Heritage Day has been an "optional" civic holiday, having been downgraded from a statutory holiday following the introduction of Family Day in 1990. August 7th 2017 is Alberta's Civic holiday this year.
