iNsiDers guiDeGetting to the FairThe fairgrounds are located just an hour’s drive north of Anchorage at mile 40 on the Glenn Highway. Once at the Fair there are four entrance gates. Three gates, the Purple, Red and Yellow, have parking areas. The fourth, the Green Gate, serves as a drop-off and pick-up zone, and as the depot for the Fair Train. No park-ing fee is required to access the entrance area to the Green Gate, however there is a 30 minute parking limit. Access is from Inner Springer Road at the north end of the fairgrounds.

Take a RestThe Family Rest Stop, provided by Alaska Family Services, is a relaxed atmosphere for families with young children. Located in the south end of Raven Hall, it offers a quiet place to breastfeed, change diapers, or simply let the little ones play or rest away from the noise and activity of the Fair. Open during Fair hours.

Parking at the FairAccessible parking is available at the Red, Yellow and Purple Lots, which offer the closest entrance to the fairgrounds.Tow-away zones. For pedestrian safety, parking on the Glenn Highway or right-of-way by the fairgrounds is not allowed. These areas will be closed off and clearly marked “no parking.” Any vehicles parked there will be towed.

Daily Schedules To fi nd out what’s going on each day of the fair, pick up a schedule at kiosks located just inside Fair walk-in gates. Got a smartphone? Download the Alaska App or QR Code Reader from your app store to upload the daily schedule right to your phone! Schedules include a map of the fairgrounds showing the location of venues as well as fi rst aid, restrooms, security & ATM’s.

Will CallPick up all will call tickets at the Green Gate. Turn in by the Purple Gate (gate closest to Palmer) and follow the road paralleling the fairgrounds to the Green Gate. There is a small area to park (30 minute parking limit) while you pick up your tickets. After you get your tickets, you may continue on to park in the Red Parking Lot or turn and go back onto the Glenn Highway. Concert & event tickets may also be picked up at the Borealis Box Offi ce.

Ride the Fair TrainForget the parking worries and leave the driving to someone else – hop on board the Fair Train for travel to the Fair. Round-trip fares from Anchorage, including admission to the Fair, are:

NATIVE YOUTH OLYMPICS DEMONSTRATION Pebble Corral, Sunday, September 4th, 10 am – 6 pmThe Native Youth Olympics competition began in 1972. They provide insight into Alaska

Native cultural heritage and promote a healthy lifestyle, physical activity and sense of identity for both Alaska Native and non-Native students. Participants in grades 7-12 compete and the events have grown to more than 69 schools. Skills demonstrated are the Eskimo Stick Pull, the Wrist Carry, the Kneel Jump, the Seal Hop and the Alaskan High Kick. The event also will feature a blanket toss open to Fairgoers.
