Speaking before the ThirdsessionoftheCouncilofOman,HisMajesty Sultan Qaboos binSaid presented the followingwordsinavisionaryspeech:“Human enterprise can onlysucceed if there is constant

AlSahwaSchoolsCampus

Our campus is situated in the Shab Al Qurum district ofMuscat.Thisisoneofthepremierloca;onsinMuscatandourneighbours include the major embassies as well as manyrestaurantsandcafes.

Al Shab translates as ‘the beach’ andwe are located a fewminutes from the golden sands and turquoise splendour ofthe Gulf of Oman. Our stunning loca;on lends itself to AlSahwa’senvironmentoftranquilityandcalm.

Ourcampusisawashwithcolourandaswellasalargegrassfield,wealsohavemanygreenspacesandcolourfulgardens.We understand that these aesthe;c elements reflect thenecessity of strengthening our learning community’sapprecia;onandrespectforthenaturalworld.

Of utmost importance to us, is ensuring the safety of ourschool site and health of our students. In recent years wehave strategically improved our campus and our health andsafety prac;ces have been ra;fied and commendedby bothna;onalandinterna;onalorganisa;ons.

Uponenteringourcampus,youwillbestruckbyourcolourfulKindergarten (KG) with its wonderfully coloured sail-shapedshades.ItisvitalthatourstudentsenjoytheoutsideasmuchaspossibleandweuseindustrialfansintheKGplaygroundsothat the students, and teachers, are cool even during theho2estmonths.

TheKindergartenboastsnewly-furnishedspecialistclassroomsfor both Arabic and English instruc;on. The outdoor spacesandlargebasementareaallowstudentstoexploreandplayinasafeandsecureenvironment.

ThemainblockoftheschoolconsistsoftheGirls’SchoolandtheBoys’School.Thesebuildingsarejoinedbyacentralspineandare‘mirror’imagesofeachother.ThePrimarySchoolsareon the ground floor and the Secondary Schools on the firstfloor.

The main building has also undergone significantimprovements with the addi;on of air condi;oning to allcorridors,newfurniture,newlearningspacesandtheaddi;onof Support for Learning classrooms. Two large, modern andopen,two-storeywingshavebeenaddedin2019tofacilitate21stCenturyteachingandlearning.

Al Sahwa is commi2ed to providing a learning environmentbefibngourreputa;onasoneofOman’sfinestschools.Thephysical environment con;nues to develop with the schoolembarkingonanewjourneytoextendtheschoolfacili;estoaccommodate new learners to join us, and provide a newlearningexperiencetoallofourstudents.

AcademicProgrammes

Al Sahwa’s outstanding curriculum supports our students intheir quest for excellence. We are an IB World Schoolauthorised for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) KG tograde 6, and a candidate school for MYP. We are currentlyimplemen;ngtheMYPProgrammegradually.WehavestartedwithGrades7and8 tobeextendedtoGrade9and10overthe next two years. For now, Grades 9 and 10 follow theCambridgecurriculum(IGCSE)thatmakesastrongfounda;onforGrades11and12 followingtheOmaniGeneralEduca;onDiploma(GED).ThisoutstandingchoiceofcurriculaofferingiscoupledwitharigorousprogrammeofIslamicStudies,ArabicandSocialStudies.Weexpectto introducethepres;giousIBDiplomaProgrammealongsidetheGEDin2022.

Al Sahwa Schools is the leading school for TechnologyEnhanced Learning in Oman, recognised and awarded byindustrybodies, suchasGoogle,AcerandCISCO.Becauseofourworld leadinguseof technology,wehavebeenawarded‘Acer Innova;ve School’ status 2 years in a row opening upaccesstoopportuni;esandresourcesforourlearners.

Each of our students from Grades 5-12 have their ownChromebook’s to access and excel at our 21st Centurylearning style. As Oman’s Google Reference School wepartneredwithGoogle toensure thatour studentshave thelatest skills in Cloud Produc;vity tools to allow them to bedigitalleadersinanyfuturetheychoose.

StudentsatAlSahwahaveaccesstothelatesttechnologiestobring theiraspira;ons to life inourmodern,university level,design suite; complete with 3D Printers, Laser cu2ers andCAMMillingmachines.
