JEJU FIELD TRIP - - - - X This program started with a field trip to Jeju Island. It is an understatement to say that this experience was amazing. Jeju was absolutely beautiful and one of the main highlights of my trip to Korea. I made numerous life long friends on this trip and it was a great way to break the ice. We hiked up Seongsan Ilchulbong peak, also known as Sunrise peak, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Additionally, we stayed at a hotel with an ocean view. This means we were walking distance from the beach. We would all go to the beach during the day to enjoy the great weather, and at night we lit fireworks for an even more memorable experience.

” KOREAN CULTURE WORKSHOP - - - - X The Korean Culture Workshops allowed us to get a taste for traditional Korean culture and also participate in many fun activities. We went to the Korean Folk Village, Hwaseong Fortress, Namsan Hanok Village, and Boryeong Mud Festival. Other activities we did included Taekwondo class, watersports, and Kpop dance class. This was a great way to socialize and make new friends.

DORMITORY - - - - X We were lucky enough to live in a brand new dormitory. The international dormitory surpassed my expectations. There is wifi available for every room, shared bathrooms with private showers, shared kitchen, laundry machines, work rooms, common areas, private desks in our rooms, nice beds, provided blankets, pillows, and air conditioning. Not only is the facility amazing but the friends I made in my building made the whole experience awesome.

CLASSES - - - - X I took Developing Managerial Skills (DMS) with Craig Milner and Korean Culture from an International Perspective (KC) with Scott Scattergood. The material I learnt in Craig’s DMS class I will take with me for life. Additionally, the class atmosphere was really engaging and exciting. As for Scott's class, KC, I learnt so much about cultures from around the world in comparison to Korean culture. Furthermore, the learning environment was incredibly fun. In both classes the whole class felt like a family. We all became so close and the memories we shared will be unforgettable.

TRAVEL - - - - X Initially, I thought I would only be able to travel over the weekends; however, that was not the case. The bus and train only take around 40 minutes to get to Seoul. Transportation is really easy to use here. Additionally, transportation was cheap and efficient. We would travel or do something almost everyday. Every weekend we would plan longer trips and over the midsummer break we went to Busan. Travelling really made this trip even more memorable. Korea has so much to offer and it was one of the best travel experiences of my entire life.

SUMMARY - - - - X I came to Korea by myself and I was not expecting to create so many amazing memories here. All the experiences I had here were truly invaluable. I made so many life long friends and for that I am incredibly grateful. The program was extremely organized and whenever I needed help the Korean interns were always there. The AISS program is truly one of the best out there and I would recommend it to anyone.
