BARVA CANOPY ADVENTURE
This tour is suitable for almost everyone. As long as you have the right attitude towards adventure you will have an incredible time. This is a family adventure that is safe enough for a 2 year old (with a guide or one of their parents), but exciting enough for all ages. Our older adventurer was in her mid-seventies. The high altitude (7,000 feet +) is a factor to keep in mind when hiking along our trails, short breath and even a sense of directed light can be experienced if it comes from sea level.

BOSQUE DE LO HOJAFOREST
If you are one of those who like to breathe the fresh air, the silence of the forest and the greenery of the mountains should be a walk through the Angels of San Rafael de Heredia. Less than 30 minutes from the center of Heredia is a natural paradise of more than 20 hectares for the enjoy-ment of its visitors.

The Barva Volcano remains undiscovered by tourism. The park entrance is located in Sacramento, a small village north of the town of Barva. A 4x4 vehicle is needed to get from Sacramento to the ranger station. An exciting day in the tropical cloud forest is guaranteed, lonely and tranquil with an impressive flora and fauna. Foggy climate is common and adds to the special atmosphere of the cloud forest.

“Bosque del niño” is located at the foot of the Poás Volca-no, approximately 14 kilometers north of the city of Grecia, specifically in the San Isidro district, 4 km north of the Escuela Calle Rodriguez (school).
It has a maximum elevation of 2550 m s.m., it has a minimum temperature of 8 ºC and maximum of 16 ºC, as well as an average rainfall of 3222 mm.
The Reserve is of great importance for the conservation of the water resources of the cantons of Grecia, Poás and Valverde Vega; As well as for soil conservation. It also protects one of the forest redoubts, which forms part of the buffer zone of the Poás Volcano National Park.
The site is one of the few places in the canton of Grecia for recreation and training groups of schools, colleges and universities, functioning as an open-air classroom. Its annual visit is approximately 6500 people, mostly nationals of nearby villages.

Poás volcano is a powerful symbol of the geothermal forces that formed Costa Rica. When the mist and clouds part you’ll see the sulfuric, bubbling, green rain fed lake at the bottom, surrounded by smoke and steam rising from fumaroles. Water from the lake is constantly seeping through cracks in the hot rock, evaporating and building pockets of steam.
When the pressure in these pockets exceeds the weight of the water above, the steam breaks through in geysers that rocket up to 820 feet (250 meters) high. Don’t worry about getting a shower though, the crater is 1,050 feet (320 meters) deep. At almost a mile (1.6 km) across it’s also the largest active crater in the world. New safety features have been added to protect visitors in case of particularly heavy activity.

Another attraction is the Catarata Tesoro Escondido.

Prusia Park is a sector of the National Park Irazú Volcano that belongs to the province of Cartago district of Tierra Blanca.
It is a forest mainly of conifers between 2600 msnm (minimum height) and a maximum of 3400 msnm. The vegetation of high pines and eucalyptus gives it a special aroma but above all an appearance of boreal forest that is exotic for the visitor besides the imposing oaks. Over the 2800 meters of altitude the native forest of height composed of dwarf trees like the rhodamon and shrubs that dominate the landscape until reaching the 3100 meters of altitude the subparamo makes presence although the vegetation of paramo proper is exclusive of the sector craters.

Irazú (3432 m) immediately east of the capital San José is Costa Rica's highest and one of its most active volcanoes. Tephra fall (ash) during the last major eruption of Irazú in 1963-65 caused heavy damage to infrastructure and life in San José and its surroundings.
Irazú is a massive stratovolcano covering more than 500 sq km with at least 10 flank cones on the south-ern flank, all being older than at least 14,000 years when a massive lava flow (the "Ceravantes" flow) was erupted. All known eruptions from Irazú during the past 10,000 years have been explosive and originated from the summit craters that show a migration to the W over time. The historically active crater contains a small acid lake of changing size and color.
