Greening of transport is a top societal challenge. Aviation is contributing only to few
percentage of total transport emissions but it is always at the forefront of R&TD and
regulation to ensure a continuous reduction of environmental impact.
The need to reduce CO2 emission, the increasing oil cost, and the foreseen peak oil are
pushing to develop new alternative fuels. The need to respect aviation strict requirements,
to understand the environmental effects, to develop a sustainable life cycle for alternative
fuels calls for R&TD, new investments, new business models.
