An IntroductionECEX is the industry leader in Air Intake Screens, creating quality solutions

that prevent airborne debris from clogging internal coil fins, perishable filters

and other components by retro-fitting unique, made-to-measure screens

to your equipment. The result is more effective and efficient equipment,

reducing costs and maintenance in the long term.

Intro Give me the basics

What is an Air

Intake Screen?

• A long lasting, filtered mesh

designed to prevent airborne

debris entering and damaging

your HVAC equipment.

• Air Intake Screens are designed to work in high

volume air flow systems.

• The specially engineered filter is designed

to enable operation of your equipment with

exceptionally low impact on static pressure.

Where is an Air Intake Screen installed?

• At supply air intake, to stop airborne debris

before it reaches coils or internal filters.

Why use an Air Intake Screen?

• Air Intake screens prevent airborne debris

from entering HVAC equipment, so it can be

easily removed.

• This maximises airflow to the equipment,

which reduces running costs, maintenance

time for engineers and energy consumption.

Equipment

Heavy duty

• Manufactured using a vinyl-coated

polyester material.

• 10 year factory warranty.

• Easily cleaned using a soft brush, hose or

vacuum cleaner.

Which grade should I use?

A good rule of thumb:

• For pollen, leaves, feathers and most insects,

choose a heavy duty Air Intake Screen.

• For anything smaller than a mosquito — e.g.

construction dust, road grit, etc — choose a

fine mesh Air Intake Screen.

Fixing methods

There are a range of fixing methods available

to suit each application:

• Twist lock fasteners

• Self-tapping screws with bonded washers

• Anodised track mount

What are the options?

Grades of Air Intake Screens:

Fine mesh

• Manufactured using woven

polypropylene fibres.

• Seven year factory warranty.

• Easily cleaned from the back using a soft

brush, hose or vacuum cleaner.

FAQs: Will an Air Intake Screen reduce airflow?

No. There is minimal impact on airflow, which is typically around 10 pascals at a velocity of 2 m/s.

Q: A:

Q: A:

Do I need special cleaning equipment for my Air Intake Screen?

No. These highly durable filters can be cleaned in minutes using a soft brush, hose or vacuum and significantly reduce onsite maintenance time and cleaning requirements.

Q: A:

How will I know when my Air Intake Screen needs cleaning?

Because Air Intake Screens are black in colour, you will easily see when they are heavily loaded and in need of cleaning.

Q:

A:

I have problems with pollen on condenser coils during spring and summer. Can an Air Intake Screen help?

Yes. Air Intake Screens are the perfect pollen filters, and give you peace of mind that your equipment is operating at maximum efficiently year-round.

Q:

A:

Is an Air Intake Screen just another component I’ll need to maintain?

No. An Air Intake Screen can be completely cleaned in minutes, compared to cleaning coils, which is time consuming and can cause damage. Air Intake Screens also make your equipment more efficient — as little as a 0.25 millimetre build-up can result in a 20% decrease in system efficiency.

FAQs: How do I measure for my Air Intake Screen?

Usually air intakes are rectangular in shape which means they are simple to measure. However, if the intake is not easily accessible, there are a number to be measured, or the shape is unusual or obstructed by pipework etc, ECEX will arrange an expert to visit, advise and measure.
