Research Impact on Warfighter“Systems Engineering Process for Air Force Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED)
Efforts”• Background: Combat Air Forces (CAF) commanders and
decision makers need a framework with which to make C-IED operational and acquisition decisions
• Goal: An analysis of CAF C-IED capability initiatives, requirements, and development of a methodology to determine most promising C-IED candidates
Impacts: •Developed unique tool to guide Air Force C-IED efforts•Created innovative measures of effectiveness•Evaluated solutions against spectrum of terrorist activities•Prioritized solutions across the doctrine, organization and material tradespace – targeted near term solutions•Allows ACC & Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) to deploy best C-IED systems
• Co-Chair SE PCE Oversight Board
• Over 40 active SE courses plus tailored on-demand workshops
• Delivery methods– In-residence classes – On-site classes around the world– Online courses
• Live and asynchronous
